WWE Programming's Best Matches for Week of September 26
Last week, you voted John Cena vs. Seth Rollins from Night of Champions 2015 as the best match of the week. For all the criticisms that fans might have for Cena, it's difficult to argue against his exemplary work over the course of this year.
Cena has spearheaded the elevation of the United States Championship, and it's certainly done the title's reputation a lot of good—even if it's meant that the veteran has beaten a who's-who of the undercard in recent months.
Regardless, he's doing great work and has been a potent rival to Rollins. However, you have to give the Architect a lot of credit. Many would point to the world champion as the best wrestler on the WWE roster at present.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Contender No. 1: Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt on Raw
For all the stumbling blocks that both men have faced since their debut, it has to be said that Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt have both looked terrific over the course of their lengthy feud.
Amid a roster filled with independent-scene veterans, these two are WWE through and through. For a time, both were given something of a baptism of fire with their immediate prominence on the main roster. However, Wyatt and Reigns are now making the most of their potential.

It's worth noting that this non-title match was being promoted as a major Raw main event. There's weight to this feud—and that's impressive for a rivalry between two relatively young wrestlers. WWE is often criticized for failing to build new talent, but its hard work is paying off with Wyatt and Reigns.
The crucial ingredient to this rivalry is the fact that both men can bring a certain level of physicality to their matches. The personal feud that's been ongoing for months is always being emphasized by the hard-hitting nature of their matches.

Their encounter this week was no different to the norm. Reigns and Wyatt always go to war, with the fireworks outside the ring being backed by some very solid brawling between the ropes. This certainly bodes well for the upcoming match inside Hell in a Cell.
Character and charisma has never been a problem for Reigns or Wyatt. However, both have to be praised for their ever-improving ring work. Few wrestlers on the roster understand the WWE style quite as well as these two.
Contender No. 2: Ryback vs. Kevin Owens on SmackDown
There's a right way and a wrong way for an unsportsmanlike champion to dodge his challenger. This week on SmackDown, Kevin Owens demonstrated the former method.
For the most part, KO was more than willing to meet the Sin City Silverback in the ring, matching him for aggression and intensity. In terms of brawling, these two are as capable of delivering a straight-up fight between the ropes as any other pairing on the roster.
Owens is a big enough man that Ryback's feats of strength always look impressive. Meanwhile, Ryback's reputation as a tough guy means that it's all the more impactful when Owens hits him with one of his nasty strikes. Both men benefit purely from the competition.
However, it has to bed said that the broader connotations of the match suggest that the overarching feud is heading in the right direction. Owens is primed to begin a reign just as engaging as him time with the NXT Championship, whereas Ryback is avoiding the standard lull that follows the loss of a title.
The Big Guy will profit from this feud just as much as Owens. Being paired with The Miz and Big Show for much of his reign as champion made for some tedious matches—even in defeat, he's been far more engaging since KO entered the Intercontinental Championship picture.
It's too soon to say that this is the resurrection of the Intercontinental Championship that many fans have been waiting for. That being said, this feud is a step in the right direction, even if there's plenty of rehabilitation still to be done.
Contender No. 3: Tommaso Ciampa vs. Tyler Breeze on NXT
Recent months have seen NXT bring in wrestlers from outside the sphere of WWE to supplement its already-exciting roster. Tommaso Ciampa might be the most exciting talent to appear on television as a result.
"Breeze and Apollo both get wins heading into Takeover. Great matches with Ciampa and Gargano!
— NOBODY IS SAIF (@SaifQuadri) October 1, 2015"
While he might not have the status of a veteran like Samoa Joe or Jushin Liger, everything about Ciampa suggests that he's a star on the rise. Even those unfamiliar with his work elsewhere in the world of wrestling would have to have been impressed by the performances he's had in NXT.
This week, Ciampa met Tyler Breeze in his first singles contest—and the results were very good. Breeze has long been an underrated member of the NXT roster, but this bout demonstrated that the Supermodel is not to be overlooked.
Breeze debuted his version of Christian's Killswitch finishing move this week—although it seems likely that he'll be using the manoeuvre's earlier moniker, the Unprettier. It's a good match for Breeze, appropriate given both his persona and his Canadian heritage.
Between Ciampa's unbridled passion and will to be noticed, and Breeze's confident assertion of his skills, this match was a pleasure to watch. It's always noticeable when competitors are particularly eager to make a name for themselves.
Ciampa and Breeze are similar for the fact that they've met every challenge faced over the course of their respective careers. Furthermore, they both deserve to enjoy much more success in the future.
