Wayne Rooney Injury: Updates on Manchester United Star's Ankle and Return
Wayne Rooney returned to action in Manchester United's Premier League match against Everton on Saturday, having previously skipped England's European Championship qualifiers with Estonia and Lithuania due to an ankle knock.
According to ITV on Oct. 8, Rooney missed three consecutive training days with England, prompting his exclusion from international team selection. The Three Lions had already qualified for Euro 2016 next summer, so it made sense not to risk further aggravation.

Even when healthy, the 29-year-old has performed below his best during the 2015/16 campaign, and his form has hindered the United attack as a whole.
Rooney's workload has been heavy this season, brought on by a clear lack of depth up front. United jettisoned Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez, Will Keane and Adnan Januzaj before the end of the transfer window, leaving manager Louis van Gaal with Anthony Martial and James Wilson as his striking alternatives.
The enforced break might well prove beneficial to United, who have seen Rooney score only one Premier League goal so far this term.
