On the latest episode of his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker revealed that Brock Lesnar contacted him on the day of his retirement match at SummerSlam earlier this month.

During a discussion with Paul Heyman on Six Feet Under (beginning at the 1:30 mark of the video), The Undertaker expressed how much it meant to him that Lesnar reached out to him when he did:

"What a full circle kind of moment," The Undertaker said. ... "The phone call that I got yesterday really meant a lot to me. I'm not even gonna get into what the phone call was about, but the fact that I received that phone call, it said a lot about him, you guys together. It was something you didn't have to do, but it meant the world to me as an old-timer.

"I don't think Brock really got enough credit for his passion for the business. ... I think he genuinely—I mean, he had to love this business. And things like that phone call yesterday, just kind of reiterated to me, like, yeah, he understood, he gets it. And it's kind of sad for me because it's one less guy that's gonna be around that understands tradition and the way things used to be done."

Heyman followed up by saying that the phone call was necessary because of the "code of honor" that exists in pro wrestling.

At SummerSlam, Lesnar lost a Hell in a Cell match to Oba Femi and put him over in a huge way afterward by calling him the "future" of WWE. Then, a couple of days later, Lesnar officially announced his retirement from wrestling at the age of 49.

Much like Lesnar elevated Femi at SummerSlam, The Undertaker did the same for Lesnar during the early days of his career.

Taker later gave Lesnar the ultimate rub as well at WrestleMania 30 when Brock ended The Deadman's 21-0 WrestleMania undefeated streak.

While The Undertaker did not get into specifics about what was said when Lesnar called him from SummerSlam, it sounds as though Brock was merely showing his appreciation and gratitude before paying it forward to another up-and-coming star.
