FT - USA 2, Bosnia-Herzegovina 0

It was more dramatic than expected, but the United States will be advancing after a well-deserved win. They were largely in control, even when being forced to play without the ball for stretches. The relentless pressing continues to be a nightmare for opponents. Mauricio Pochettino has clearly implemented his identity on the team. There is one issue that will leave him slightly frustrated.
After a stellar first half, Florian Balogun found himself at the center of the action again. Unfortunately for the United States, it was for one of the worst reasons imaginable. His attempt to chase down a ball led to him unintentionally stamping on center back Tarik Muharemovic's foot. While it looked gruesome, there was no maliciousness behind his challenge. The officials decided it was serious foul play. Balogun was sent off to turn what was looking like a comfortable win into a battle.
Bosnia & Herzegovina had barely posed much of a threat going forward prior to the game-changing moment. Despite being slightly more adventurous, they lacked the quality to put together cohesive attacks in open play. Weston McKennie and Tyler Adams were outstanding in closing potential gaps and making key defensive interventions.
Many of the United States' standout players during the tournament stepped up when playing with ten men. Christian Pulisic was dangerous on the break by taking on defenders and drawing fouls. Alex Freeman was commanding in preventing Bosnia & Herzegovina from getting any penetration. The breakout performance from Malick Tillman would be the ultimate decider.
After his pass forced chaos in the box to create the first goal, he stepped up to take a free kick near the edge of the box after Sergino Dest drew a crucial foul on Stjepan Radeljic. The playmaker would bend the free kick over the wall into the near corner for a vital goal. The United States would go on to defend intelligently, earning its second clean sheet of the tournament. They will move to face Belgium next Monday night in Seattle.
