WWE Feuds For Roman Reigns After Fatu 🔮
While he competed in the men's Royal Rumble match days later, Rey Mysterio's loss to Austin Theory on Jan. 26 had fans worried. He was clutching his ribs after the match in a way that went beyond selling any damage from the encounter.
The former world champion confirmed to radio host Adrian Hernandez he was legit injured on Raw, fracturing his right and left ribs. He said he's feeling "much better than when it actually happened."
Mysterio didn't provide a timeline for his recovery.
WrestleMania 42 is a little over a month away, so the Hall of Famer could possibly find himself in a midcard bout. WWE has scaled back how many matches it stages at premium live events, but there are a lot of holes to fill in a two-night show.
When Mysterio has been off television for so long, though, an appearance at WrestleMania probably isn't likely.
Keys Potentially Slotting into Celebrity Match
Royce Keys' debut at Royal Rumble felt like a big deal, but he has yet to wrestle in a televised match since then. His hiatus could be nearing an end.
BodySlam+ (via Felix Upton of Ringside News) reported the creative team has thrown around the idea of Keys teaming with music star Jelly Roll.
The confrontation between Jelly Roll and Kit Wilson, which resulted in the Grammy Award winner hitting The Miz, was clearly intended to tee up a larger storyline.
Involving Keys would answer the question of who Jelly Roll calls in for reinforcements in a tag team battle against Wilson and The Miz.
Some fans are likely to be disappointed this is Keys' first real angle in WWE. Celebrity matches aren't exactly the most prestigious, so a win over The Miz and Wilson may not do much to boost his profile.
But this is at least something.
Sami Zayn lost to Johnny Knoxville at WrestleMania 38 in a pure comedy match. Without that, he probably doesn't main-event the first night of WrestleMania 39, though. Zayn elevated his feud with Knoxville so much he earned a shot at something bigger and eventually got it with his insertion into The Bloodline faction.
Maybe Keys can be similarly effective in maximizing what's a less than ideal hand.
Danhausen Drawing Internal Praise
Perhaps it was part of the plan all along, but Danhausen's Elimination Chamber debut fell a little flat. The live crowd didn't provide a raucous reception, and a lot of those watching at home were puzzled by the overall execution with the mysterious box that had been teased for weeks.
The last few weeks have seen Danhausen quickly find a groove. His backstage segments have showcased his unique character.
Fightful Select (via Ringside News' Steve Carrier) reported the new signing has also received plaudits backstage for how he handled his bumpy introduction. People within WWE are pleased by the way in which he put Elimination Chamber behind him and executed the vision as it was originally laid out.
Danhausen's debut at least achieved one thing: People were very curious about what was next. He has succeeded in using all of that attention to his benefit.
