Men's Freestyle Skiing Results, Olympics 2026 Big Air Medal Winners
American skier and Winter X Games champion Mac Forehand is an Olympic big air medalist.
Forehand earned a silver medal during the men's freeski big air final on Tuesday during the Milan Cortina Olympics.
Here's a look at the results from today's competition at Livigno Snow Park.
Gold: Tormod Frostad, Norway (195.50 total score)
Silver: Mac Forehand, United States (193.25)
Bronze: Matej Svancer, Austria (191.25)
Forehand, who skiied last after finishing at the top of the qualification round standings, was looking to bounce back from an 11th-place finish in slopestyle.
The American started out the final with back-to-back 95-point runs, then topped off the competition with a 98.25 third-run score to claim his first Olympic medal.
Frostad, who was also seeking redemption after finishing outside the podium in slopestyle, held Forehand back from gold with final runs worth 97 and 98.50 points, respectively.
Austria's Matej Svancer, who earned a score of 91.75 on his first attempt, climbed onto the podium by topping 95 points in each of his final runs.
Birk Ruud of Norway, who won big air gold at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and slopestyle gold earlier at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games, finished in eighth place after spilling out on each of his final runs.
Team USA had three representatives in the 12-skier final after Konnor Ralph and Troy Podmilsak also made the cut. Podmilsak finished fourth with a final score of 184.50, while Ralph came in fifth with 178.00 total points.
Multiple competitors said before the event they were anticipating historic tricks to take place on Tuesday in Livigno. Forehand said ahead of the competition he was expecting "one of the best finals ever on skiis" depending on the weather, per NBCOlympics.com's Liam Nee.
Multiple Olympic events, including the women's snowboard slopestyle final and the men's and women's aerials qualification, were postponed due to weather earlier in the day in Livigno.
The storm had cleared up enough by 7:30 p.m. ET local time to allow the men's freeski big air competition to take place in what has been a snowy few days in the Italian Alps.
