Viral Norwegian Olympian Wins Bronze Medal in Men's 10km Sprint Biathlon at 2026 Winter Games
Sturla Holm Lægreid, who became a sensation at the Olympics earlier this week for trying to win back his ex-girlfriend in a viral interview, has won his second medal of the 2026 Games.
The 28-year-old from Norway won bronze in the men's biathlon 10km sprint on Friday. He finished his run in 23:09.0, behind France's Quentin Fillon Maillet (22:53.1) and Norway's Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen (23:06.8).
This is the second bronze medal for Lægreid this week. He finished third in the 20-kilometer biathlon final on Tuesday.

Rather than use that moment to celebrate his incredible athletic accomplishment, Lægreid decided to use his interview time to bare his soul by telling the world he cheated on his then-girlfriend three months earlier and wanted to win her back:
"There is someone who may not be watching today. Half a year ago, I met the love of my life, the world's most beautiful, finest person, and three months ago I made the biggest mistake of my life and cheated on her. ... I had a gold medal in my life. There are probably many now who look at me with different eyes, but I only have eyes for her. I don't quite know what I want to achieve by saying it here and now, but sport has taken second place in recent days. I wish I could share it with her."

She did respond to the comments, telling Norwegian tabloid outlet Verdens Gang that she "did not choose to be put in this position" and that Lægreid "is aware of my positions on this."
