After becoming a Grand Slam champion, WWE legend Triple H showed love to Cena on social media, calling him the "GOAT."
The championship match between Cena and Mysterio was initially set to take place during the "Survivor Series" Premium Live Event later this month, but Monday night's edition of Raw turned into an unadvertised championship match.
Cena achieving Grand Slam status comes just a month before his retirement match on Dec. 13. His final match will take place at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
To determine who his final opponent will be, Cena is hosting the "Last Time Is Now" tournament, which will take place ahead of the event.
The 16-man tournament will feature wrestlers from Raw, SmackDown, NXT and possibly some who aren't under a WWE contract. The first four tournament participants were announced earlier this month.
On Monday, Rusev defeated Damian Priest in the first round. Sheamus will take on Shinsuke Nakamura later on Monday.
Cena, who made his WWE debut in 2002, has a laundry list of achievements. He's a 17-time world champion, five-time United States champion, four-time tag team champion and two-time Royal Rumble winner.
The last thing he was missing from his resume was an International Title. He has now achieved that feat, making him a Grand Slam champion right before he calls it a career.
