Predicting Results of Cody Rhodes, CM Punk SNME Matches, AEW Women's Tag Team Bracket

Philip LindseyOct 24, 2025

Three major pro wrestling events are coming up with major implications for the rest of the year, and we're here to predict where they could lead.

WWE bounced back from an underwhelming ESPN debut with Crown Jewel on Oct. 11. Unfortunately, the then-world heavyweight champion suffered an injury at the event that forced a pivotal change of direction as The Vision turned on Seth Rollins.

Now, number one contender CM Punk will take on the controversial winner of this week's Battle Royal for his vacant title during the Nov. 1 episode of Saturday Night's Main Event.

Last week's SmackDown also reignited an ongoing rivalry for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Meanwhile, All Elite Wrestling looks to crown its first women's tag team champions after the division delivered a strong performance at WrestleDream.

The company's heavily criticized utilization of women's wrestling has come a long way over the past six years, and this latest advancement is the chance to prove how much its roster has grown.

These are our predictions for the upcoming AEW women's world tag titles tournament and WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.

AEW Women's World Tag Team Championship Tournament

During the latest episode of Dynamite, AEW unveiled the bracket for the upcoming Women's World Tag Team Championship Tournament.

For the next few weeks, eight teams will compete to crown the company's inaugural champs. The field is stacked with some of the biggest stars in the division, making the outcome a lot less predictable than we expected

For instance, Anna Jay and Tay Conti, the only team that also competed in The Deadly Draw in 2020, have a tough matchup in the first round against Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford.

Similarly, Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata called their shot for an opening match against The Sisters of Sin, who would have also been a logical option to win the tournament early on.

Straight away, Willow Nightingale will have to contend with two opponents she has a history with: Athena and Mercedes Moné. Still, it's a safe bet she will lose to set up an inevitable reunion with Kris Statlander and a renewed chase for the titles.

Bayne and Ford are our pick to win because The Megasus could benefit the most from a big win. Even more, her partner has quietly been one of the most consistent additions to the women's roster since AEW's inception, and this is her most believable chance of winning championship gold.

Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre

The main event of Wrestlepalooza wasn't much to write home about, but the quirky finish left plenty of potential to revisit Cody Rhodes vs Drew McIntyre.

The Scottish Warrior can rightfully claim the referee stopped him before he landed a devastating Claymore through the table to become the new undisputed WWE champion. However, one could also argue his petty attempt to reenact the closing moments of the Aug. 8 episode of SmackDown was his undoing.

McIntyre developed into such a compelling antagonist last year during his feud with CM Punk. It's a shame that didn't translate into a more substantial role on the blue brand, which is why he could use a win over The American Nightmare.

SmackDown

Sadly, it's hard to believe this match will go any differently than their last encounter in September. Predictably, Rhodes will beat him again and possibly set up a third match somewhere down the road, which will keep the Scot in the holding pattern he has been in for most of 2025.

Luckily, the backstage segment that preceded their brawl guarantees we will see an eventual feud with Jacob Fatu, but it would be nice to see WWE shake things up.

Jey Uso vs. CM Punk

Jey Uso will face Punk for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship in the most highly publicized match ahead of this edition of Saturday Night's Main Event.

On the surface, this is an interesting matchup that pits the 2025 men's Royal Rumble winner against the man many of us predicted would win. WWE Unreal even revealed that The Second City Saint was originally pitched as the winner before Uso pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the year.

Uso's current dynamic with Roman Reigns also adds an intriguing wrinkle in his latest attempt to win the world title. After all, Main Event won it without his cousin's advice at WrestleMania 41, but The Tribal Chief is seemingly corrupting him, as he did when he was his second in command as part of The Bloodline.

Nevertheless, Uso's win on Monday night was a divisive outcome because many fans were hoping to see something new. More to the point, most viewers expected Bron Breakker to enter the Battle Royal and continue to stake his claim to the mantle Raw general manager Adam Pearce stripped from Seth Rollins.

Instead, WWE didn't advance a fresh storyline and moved towards an option that has grown stale with some of its fanbase. However, that's why we're expecting an indecisive finish at SNME.

The prime-time special still doesn't seem like the right place for Punk's crowning moment. It would also be deflating to see him defeat Uso to become the world champion without a gratifying conclusion to his battles with Rollins.

Right now, it would make much more sense for Breakker to interfere and cause a disqualification. That's not the most ideal solution, but it would be in line with the way Saturday Night's Main Event has been used all year.
