Brian McTaggart of MLB.com noted Correa is batting fourth and playing shortstop against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Correa Vital to Astros' Long-Term Success
Correa has been a revelation for the Astros since making his MLB debut on June 8 last season. Not only is he already considered one of Major League Baseball's premier shortstops, but he's emerged as a full-blown superstar in expedient fashion.
As a rookie, the 2012 No. 1 overall pick batted .279 with 22 home runs and 68 RBI in 99 regular-season appearances en route to nabbing 2015 American League Rookie of the Year honors.
"He exceeded expectations on how he handled the spotlight and the pressure on hitting in the middle of the order at such an early part of his career and his overall impact on his teammates," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said, per McTaggart. "I'm so proud of how he is as a teammate and how he interacts with the guys on the team."
According to Baseball-Reference.com, his 4.1 offensive wins above replacement ranked second among all Astros players behind Jose Altuve during that span.
This season, Correa is batting .254 with eight home runs and 32 RBI.
