British Open Standings 2015: Easy-to-View Mobile Updates for Friday Leaderboard

Steven CookJul 17, 2015

It's not yet moving day at the 2015 British Open, but it certainly feels like it as dozens of golfers navigate their way into contention throughout a whirlwind Friday at St. Andrews.

Subpar weather conditions haven't put a damper on the scoreboard, as Danny Willett's Day 2 emergence has taken the tournament by storm along with the rain that delayed the early moments of Friday. Willett stood ahead of the pack halfway through Friday, but Dustin Johnson, Thursday's leader, and others are on the course over the afternoon trying to catch up.

Take a look at the updated leaderboard:

As one of the only afternoon golfers to card a low round Thursday, Zach Johnson entered the second round needing to make the most of his morning advantage Friday. He may not have taken full advantage, but he's still sitting pretty at the Old Course.

His opening-round 66 put him just one stroke off the Thursday lead, and Johnson is in a similar spot after Day 2. He carded the first dazzling round of Friday, finishing with a score that puts him at seven under through 36 holes.

It's no secret what the difference is for Johnson, as ESPN's Jason Sobel noted:

Of course, he and the others on the course early Friday knew the conditions would be tougher. What they didn't know was that it would result in them waiting out a three-hour rain delay.

With heavy rain hitting the course, play halted for a long stretch of the early golfers and tee times were pushed back considerably. Golfers are set to tee off into the 1 p.m. ET hour, which figures to leave little time for 18 holes in Scotland.

The rain may have subsided, but the winds are set to pick up in a big way. Gusts are predicted to reach as high as 25 mph, per Weather.com.

The low scores so far at St. Andrews show just how beatable this course is when the conditions are ideal, but it's safe to say they won't be for the rest of Friday's round. How the top contenders react now that the leaderboard continues to move further below par will decide who has the edge entering the weekend.
