British Open 2015 Leaderboard: Latest Scores and Standings from Friday
The more things change, the more they stay the same in majors, as the opening round of the 2015 British Open showcased leading up to Friday's second-round action.
Just like we saw at the U.S. Open last month, Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson are dueling it out atop the leaderboard. Johnson had the early lead entering Friday as he looks for redemption from his Chambers Bay catastrophe, but him and Spieth are surrounded by contenders sniffing out the lead.
Here's a look at how things are currently shaking out at St. Andrews:

The drivable par four greens at the Old Course seemed to fit right into Johnson's biggest strength, and the PGA Tour's most powerful driver feasted throughout his opening round on Thursday.
Johnson may not have reached any greens in his first round, but his power was still on full display. He constantly set himself up for short approach shots onto the green and turned them into five birdies along with one eagle.
His ability to make things easier approaching the green was a huge advantage Thursday, as Doug Ferguson of The Associated Press noted:
While the course toughened up in the afternoon with increasingly difficult winds, Johnson, Spieth and others benefited from ideal conditions in the morning session. That won't be the case Friday and may not be for the rest of the championship.
The low scores that showed up in droves Thursday aren't likely to continue throughout Friday. The golfers know what's about to hit them, as even Ian Poulter took to Twitter:
The rough conditions hitting St. Andrews on Friday are sure to make things interesting as the weekend looms, but it's not like this championship needed any more excitement. The leaderboard was jam packed heading into Friday.
A whopping 17 golfers began Friday's round within three strokes of Johnson's outright lead, which all but ensures that he'll have his hands full holding onto said lead. When he looks alongside him and sees Spieth, that's only the beginning of who he has to worry about as things continue forward at the Old Course.
