WWE NXT Results, Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights From August 12
Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE NXT on August 12.
With Heatwave less than two weeks away, building up the premium live event is a top priority, but this week's show still had plenty of time for action.
Here's a look at what WWE advertised for Tuesday's episode:
- DarkState vs. Oba Femi, Je'Von Evans, Moose and Trick Williams
- Joe Hendry vs. Charlie Dempsey
- Lash Legend vs. Nia Jax
- Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice vs. Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley
Let's take a look at what happened on this week's NXT.
Lash Legend vs. Nia Jax
1 of 6
NXT began this week's show with the showdown between Jax and Legend. Both women are among the most powerful in WWE, so this was the 2025 version of The Unstoppable Force vs. The Immovable Object.
They locked up and fought for control. It seemed like a stalemate until Jax put Legend in the corner for some shoulder thrusts.
Legend showed some impressive strength when Jax applied a guillotine and Legend held her up before planting her in the corner.
There was nothing pretty about this match. This was two big, powerful women trying to hurt each other, so they weren't worried about technical precision. They just wanted to hit each other in the face as much as possible.
The first couple of minutes felt a bit rough, but they eventually found their groove and had some fun moments. Legend was especially impressive with some of the power moves she hit.
Not only did this bout live up to expectations, but it also left room for them to grow in future encounters should their feud continue.
Legend almost had the match won, but two Annihilators from Jax put her down for the three-count.
Result: Jax defeated Legend
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
- Hank and Tank were shown misunderstanding NXT general manager Ava in the parking lot. She had something in her eye, so they kept assuming it meant they should attack DarkState even though she clearly told them to stay out of the match.
- It's hard to say if it's more surprising to see Jax using a guillotine or Legend being able to keep her elevated.
- Legend slowly lifting Jax off the mat was really impressive. She had no leverage, so it was all her strength.
Charlie Dempsey vs. Joe Hendry
2 of 6
The second match saw TNA's Hendry take on Dempsey of No Quarter Catch Crew. As usual, Wren Sinclair was by Dempsey's side.
Dempsey favors a technical style, but Hendry did a good job keeping up with him as they exchanged holds and counters.
Once Dempsey grew frustrated, he began unloading on the former TNA champion with strikes, which the Scot was more than happy to reciprocate.
After a short but competitive fight, Hendry got the win with his finisher.
This would have been great if they had more time, so hopefully it's not their last encounter.
Result: Hendry defeated Dempsey
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
- Hendry needs a ring jacket or something to make his entrance feel a bit more important.
- The Standing Ovation is the kind of move that looks like it should be easy to counter.
Fatal Influence vs. Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice
3 of 6
Josh Briggs came out to give a promo about Yoshiki Inamura, but the crowd was booing and chanting so much that it was hard to listen to what he had to say.
He challenged his former friend to a Street Fight, and Inamura came to the ring to accept.
After some backstage segments and a break, Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley took on Vice and Jordan in tag team action. Jazmyn Nyx was at ringside to support her Fatal Influence teammates.
Masha Slamovich and Ash by Elegance—formerly Dana Brooke in WWE—were in the crowd watching the match. Jordan and Henley started for their teams and wasted no time picking up the pace.
This match never really slowed down, which worked to its benefit. All four competitors had some good moments, but the quick pace meant they never had time to sell anything for more than a couple of seconds.
This bout had a couple of moves that didn't land, but the vast majority of what they did looked great. This was a solid performance from four women who have helped carry this division in NXT for some time.
Jordan ended up getting the win for her team with a moonsault on Jayne, which gives her a pin over the double champion.
Result: Jordan and Vice defeated Fatal Influence
Grade: B+
Notable Moments and Observations
- Inamura diving off the top rope onto a pile of security guards was a fun moment.
- Jordynne Grace gave an interview that seemed to be an attempt to make Blake Monroe's body-shaming promo make sense.
- Henley mocking Vice's dance on the way to the ring was funny.
- WWE should offer a commentary track without Booker T. It would help.
Alba Fyre vs. Kendal Grey
4 of 6
Evolve's Kendal Grey got a big opportunity this week when she took on Alba Fyre in a singles match. Chelsea Green watched from backstage with Ethan Page, but Piper Niven was at ringside for her tag partner.
Grey has been around WWE for over two years, but this was her first real opportunity to shine on national television.
After Niven was taken down, All Ego came out to check on her as Grey began building some momentum.
While this wasn't a bad match, it lacked the kind of polish we expect from a WWE bout. It also felt a little rushed, which was likely due to having only a few minutes. Fyre got the win in the end.
Result: Fyre defeated Grey
Grade: C+
Notable Moments and Observations
- Pairing Green and Page together was a good move. They have good chemistry.
- Tavion Heights and Page had an exchange after the match that led to Tyra Mae Steele taking out everyone in the ring.
DarkState vs. Williams, Moose, Femi and Evans
5 of 6
The main event of Tuesday's show saw TNA's Moose team up with Evans, Williams and Femi to take on all four members of DarkState.
As soon as the bell rang, Evans jumped on top of DarkState to kick-start a huge brawl with everyone. It ended up with Evans and Saquon Shugars as the first legal men.
This was just as chaotic as you would expect. DarkState thrive on mayhem, and with eight people involved in the match, they didn't have time to slow down.
Bouts like this are sometimes hard to judge because it's almost impossible for a match with this many competitors to have a cohesive story. It's more about making sure everyone gets some time in the ring than anything else.
That being said, there was some decent action here. Some miscommunication led to the babyfaces taking each other out, which allowed DarkState to target Evans. Williams could have gotten involved, but he opted not to save his partner.
Hank and Tank came out to fight DarkState to end the show.
Result: DarkState won
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
- Femi needs to keep his same entrance when he goes to the main roster. It's too perfect for him.
- Moose and Femi throwing Williams over the top rope onto everyone was a fun spot.
- The way Shugars landed on Evans with a leg drop looked brutal. Nobody was where they were supposed to be.
The Final Word
6 of 6NXT has been pretty consistent for a while, but that has pros and cons. There is always something to enjoy, but it never feels like any episode stands out among the rest.
Match results are even more predictable than the main roster, and it can sometimes feel as if we see the same stories recycled time and time again.
Tuesday's show wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, either. Two of the matches felt way too short, especially since the show had more than enough time for some inconsequential backstage segments.
The main event and the women's tag match were the two biggest highlights of the night. The main event brought a lot of energy, but Vice and Jordan vs. Fatal Influence was better from bell to bell. Jax vs. Legend was also worth taking the time to see.
