Alexey Shved to TEAM X: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
After spending last season with three different teams, Alexey Shved is hoping for more stability in 2015-16, agreeing to terms with Russian club Khimki Moscow on a three-year deal, the team announced Thursday.
David Pick of Basketball Insiders reported the deal was worth $10.2 million, making Shved the highest-paid player overseas.
Shved ended last season as a member of the New York Knicks after starting the year with the Philadelphia 76ers and being traded to the Houston Rockets in December.

The 26-year-old had a breakout role with the Knicks, averaging 14.8 points and shooting 37.1 percent from three-point range, albeit in a small sample size of 16 games. He did have his best overall season in 2014-15 by advanced metrics, racking up 2.2 win shares in 42 games, per Basketball-Reference.com.
According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Shved and his representatives were negotiating with the Knicks but weren't happy with the way things progressed.
“We didn’t get to the right number with the Knicks," Shved's agent, Obrad Fimic, said. “Maybe next season. We are considering a return to Europe where we have two huge offers."
In the same Berman report, he noted Houston dealt him largely because it felt Shved "was strongly considering a return to Europe."
Shved has struggled adjusting to the NBA since signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves, shooting 36.9 percent from the field and averaging 7.4 points per game with four teams. He's got good athleticism and is young enough to become a solid NBA contributor.
Ultimately, the point guard returning to Europe could be the best thing for him. It will give him a chance to hone his skills and show what he can do, which could ultimately convince an NBA team to take another chance on the young guard.
