While Rollins has no firm answers regarding the timeline for his return, he noted that he knows his body and believes he will be "out for an extended period of time."
Rollins noted that he felt his knee "pop and buckle" while landing after a springboard moonsault, which led to him and Knight ending the match quickly.
The reigning Mr. Money in the Bank had to be helped to the backstage area afterward, and he is currently getting around with the aid of crutches and a knee brace.
Coming out of Saturday Night's Main Event, there were plenty of rumors and speculation regarding the severity of Rollins' injury or whether he was actually injured at all.
On Wednesday, Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News) that he was told Rollins has a "minor" knee injury and suggested that it was worked into an angle during the Rollins vs. Knight match.
Alvarez added that WWE is expected to announce that Rollins will be out for nine months as a setup for a much quicker return meant to surprise the fans.
No such suggestion was made by Rollins on the Rich Eisen Show, which could either mean Alvarez's report is wrong, or Rollins is trying to keep the true nature of his injury close to the chest.
Losing Rollins for any period of time is less than ideal for WWE since Rollins has been part of one of the biggest storylines in the company since WrestleMania 41.
Rollins beat Roman Reigns and CM Punk in the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania when he shockingly aligned with Paul Heyman. In the weeks that followed, he added Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed to his stable.
The Visionary also won the men's Money in the Bank ladder match, meaning he has a guaranteed world title shot at any time in his back pocket.
Provided Rollins is able to return to action in less than a year, WWE has the opportunity to orchestrate one of the most shocking cash-ins of all time.
Assuming Rollins is going to be off WWE programming while healing up, he will be out of sight and out of mind for fans, and WWE to use his cash-in as the basis for a surprise return.
Because of that, it would behoove WWE to keep Rollins' return timeline a closely guarded secret, as it would prevent fans from having any idea of when he could possibly return and cash in.
Rollins, 39, has a history of major knee injuries that have caused him to miss significant time on multiple occasions during his WWE career, and while the lines are blurred regarding the severity of his current ailment, Rollins' comments make it sound like another lengthy absence could be on the horizon.
