Belmont Stakes 2025 Betting Odds, Props and Picks for Journalism, Baeza, More
The 2025 Belmont Stakes has a rare but intriguing storyline attached to it.
A Triple Crown is not on the line on Saturday at Saratoga, but the winners of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes are entered into the eight-horse field.
Journalism, the Preakness winner, is the favorite, while Sovereignty, the Derby winner who skipped the Preakness, owns the next-best odds to win the race.

The Favorite
Journalism (8/5)
Journalism entered Triple Crown season as the horse to beat.
The Preakness winner entered the Kentucky Derby on a four-race winning streak that was derailed at Churchill Downs by Sovereignty.
Despite the head-to-head loss to the Derby winner, Journalism is viewed by the oddsmakers as the best horse in the field.
Journalism is 5-for-6 in 2025, a record that no horse in the field can come close to matching.
Journalism wasn't totally outmatched in that head-to-head battle vs. Sovereignty, and given how well he performed at the Preakness, there's a good chance he reverses that result at the Belmont.
Mid-Tier Horse To Watch
Baeza (4/1)
Baeza is a horse we probably should be talking about more.
The colt drawn to post No. 6 finished third behind Sovereignty and Journalism at the Kentucky Derby.
In the start before that, Baeza took second behind Journalism at the Santa Anita Derby.
Baeza hasn't proved he can beat Journalism yet, which is a big milestone given how well he has looked in 2025. However, if there is a horse in the field to challenge him, it's one with experience racing against Journalism.
Long Shot to Watch
Uncaged (30/1)
Only one horse posted above 10-1 has won the Belmont Stakes in the last five years.
Dornoch's triumph at 15-1 last year, or the desire to be a contrarian, could lead you to betting on one of the long shots in the field.
There aren't many long shots to choose from among the eight horses, but Uncaged stands out because of the long odds and the team behind him.
Jockey Luis Saez has won two of the last four Belmont Stakes, albeit aboard horses under 10-1, and trainer Todd Pletcher has been in charge of four Belmont-winning thoroughbreds.
