Highlights and Notable Results
Wake Forest 10, Cincinnati 3
In the first game of the day, Wake Forest avenged its 11-6 defeat against Cincinnati on Friday and advanced to face Tennessee.
Wake Forest's offense was consistent throughout its second matchup with the Bearcats, scoring at least one run in five innings on Sunday.
The Deacons took a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning with an impressive RBI single from Marek Houston as well as a two-run double by Jack Winnay.
Wake Forest jumped out to a 10-0 advantage before Cincinnati was able to get on the board due to home runs from Houston, Matt Scannell and Austin Hawke.
Mississippi State 3, Northeastern 2
The opening matchup of Sunday's Tallahassee Regional featured a hard-fought clash between the Bulldogs and Huskies.
Mississippi State took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning after Hunter Hines picked up a RBI double.
Both teams traded runs before a bases-loaded walk from Northeastern infielder Jack Doyle pulled his team to within one run.
The Huskies attempted to tie the game in the ninth inning, but outfielder Carter Bentley was caught stealing at second base with two outs to seal the final result.
Wright State 5, Vanderbilt 4
The largest upset of the day occurred when Wright State took down Vanderbilt, the No. 1 seed. The Commodores became the first No. 1 team that failed to reach the regional final with the 5-4 defeat.
Wright State set the tone early with a four-run first inning that was highlighted by home runs from Boston Smith and Luke Arnold.
Both teams traded runs over the next two innings before Vanderbilt attempted to mount a late comeback.
The Commodores scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to nearly secure an improbable win, but a flyout from RJ Austin with runners on second and third base ended the game.
Ole Miss 11, Georgia Tech 9
Sunday's clash between Georgia Tech and Ole Miss was a back-and-forth affair.
The Yellow Jackets took a 3-0 lead to open the first inning before the Rebels quickly responded with five runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.
Ole Miss extended its advantage to 6-3 before Georgia Tech scored five combined runs in the third and forth innings, taking an 8-6 lead with the help of RBI doubles from Caleb Daniel and Carson Kerce.
The Rebels eventually tied the game once again due to a home run from Judd Utermark as well as a bases-loaded walk by Mitchell Sanford.
Junior Will Furness put Ole Miss back on top with an RBI single in the seventh inning and Georgia Tech couldn't recover.
