Driving the No. 1 car for Trackhouse Racing, Chastain seized control with just five laps remaining, slipping past Byron on Turn 2 of Lap 395 and never looking back as he cruised to the checkered flag.
Fans quickly took to social media to celebrate Chastain’s dramatic and hard-fought win in one of NASCAR’s crown jewel races.

Byron won Stages 1, 2 and 3, earning him 30 points. Denny Hamlin and Carson Hoevar battled for the Stage 3 victory against Byron as the three went wide for the finish, but Byron prevailed to take all three stages.
In the previous Cup Series race on May 11, Chastain finished 18th and entered this week eager to deliver a strong bounce-back performance.
Recently, Kyle Larson has claimed two of the last four Cup Series victories, winning the Food City 500 in mid-April and the AdventHealth 400 three weeks later. Austin Cindric secured a win at the historic Talladega Superspeedway, while Joey Logano took the checkered flag at the Würth 400 presented by LIQUI MOLY.
Heading into the Coca-Cola 600, Larson had surged to the top of the NASCAR Cup Series standings, overtaking teammate Byron, who had controlled the leaderboard for much of the season. Larson held a 35-point advantage over Byron, with both drivers well ahead of the rest of the pack. Toyota’s Christopher Bell and Chevrolet’s Chase Elliott followed in third and fourth place, respectively.

The NASCAR Cup Series resumes next Sunday as the calendar flips to June with the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway.
