Scott McLaughlin Calls Crash on Indy 500 Warm-Up Lap the 'Worst Moment of My Life'
Scott McLaughlin couldn't hide his disappointment after his run in the 2025 Indianapolis 500 ended before it actually began.
McLaughlin crashed into an inside wall during the pace laps and couldn't continue:
"I really have no idea what happened," he told reporters of the crash. "I can't believe we're out of the race. I had so much hope. It's the worst moment of my life."
The wreck assured McLaughlin of a 33rd-place finish Sunday, and it compounded a difficult week for Team Penske.
Penske drivers Josef Newgarden and Will Power were moved to the back of the starting grid after their cars failed an inspection. Amid the fallout, Roger Penske fired the entire leadership team.
Even if Newgarden is ultimately successful in his quest for a historic three-peat at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the 2025 Indy 500 may not be a race Team Penske on the whole remembers too fondly.
