Jon Rahm 'Embarrassed' by PGA Championship Finish, Ends 7 Shots Behind Scheffler

Jon Rahm discussed the ending to his final round in the 2025 PGA Championship on Sunday.

"I always like to go back a little bit on something that Charles Barkley likes to remind basketball players all the time. Like, I play golf for a living. It's incredible," Rahm said, per ESPN's Paolo Uggetti. "Am I embarrassed a little bit about how I finished today? Yeah. But I just need to get over it, get over myself. It's not the end of the world. Again, there's a lot more positive than negative to think about this week. I'm really happy I put myself in position and hopefully learn from this and give it another go in the U.S. Open."

Rahm was tied with Scottie Scheffler for the lead with nine holes to play. He ended up finishing seven shots back of Scheffler, who earned the third major title of his career.

Rahm particularly ran into trouble on the final three holes, as he bogeyed No. 16 before his tee shot bounced into the water on No. 17. He carded double bogeys on No. 17 and No. 18, falling out of the race to win the event.

While Rahm expressed his disappointment over the end of the round, he also lamented his inability to capitalize on a potential birdie opportunity on No. 15 after hitting an approach putt too hard.

"The last three holes, it's a tough pill to swallow right now," Rahm said, via Uggetti. "If there was ever a time where it felt like it was slipping away to an extent, it was not birdieing 14 and 15; that was definitely the mistake, before, obviously, finishing poorly."

While the two-time major champion didn't end the final round on a high note, he was still encouraged by his overall performance at Quail Hollow Club.

"God, it's been a while since I had that much fun on a golf course, 15 holes," Rahm said. "Pretty fresh wound right now. But there's been a lot of good happening this week and a lot of positive feelings to take for the rest of the year."

He'll now look ahead to the next major, the U.S. Open, which begins on June 12.
