Windy conditions impacted Saturday's qualifying, as two drivers ran into trouble on Turn 1. First, Marcus Armstrong spun out and crashed during a practice round in the morning and was taken away in an ambulance.
Armstrong was eventually released from the care center roughly 90 minutes later.
"I'm doing well," Armstrong said afterward, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN). "Obviously it was a rather large hit, but I'm feeling OK now. ... Fingers crossed we'll get out for an install [run] or even a full run if we're lucky."
Colton Herta also experienced issues on Turn 1, as he crashed after his car hit the outside wall before landing on its side. He was taken to the infield care center and was later released.
"Luckily these days these crashes look a lot scarier than they feel -- not to say that one felt good," Herta said, via ESPN. "There were no real signs leading to it. We were super happy with the car this morning. Went out loose and couldn't even get Lap 1 in."
He was able to return and qualify for Sunday's race in the No. 29 spot.
Marco Andretti, Rinus Veekay, Graham Rahal and Jacob Abel couldn't secure a spot within the top 30. Now, they'll race for the final three positions in the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday.
