Preakness 2025 Horses, Entry List, Vegas Odds and Dark-Horse Favorites
The 150th running of the Preakness Stakes, the second leg in horse racing's prestigious Triple Crown, will take place Saturday from Pimlico Racecourse in Baltimore.
Sovereignty, the winner of this year's Kentucky Derby, will not compete in the race but three of that race's runners-up will have a shot at etching their names in the history books.
Who they are, which horses will join them, and where each will start were determined Monday evening.

Dark Horse Candidate
Gosger may not have the most appealing name of the horses he will share Saturday's course with, but he could be the surprise of the race. The product of sire Nyquist and dam Gloria S (by way of Tapit), the colt has found success early in 2025.
He has crossed the finish line first in each of his two starts this year, including the Lexington Stakes. While others in Saturday's race are pure speedsters, he is a patient and stalking racer who will survey the field and attempt to make a late push toward the front, not unlike race favorite Journalism.
He does not possess the experience or speed to outrace his opponents, and beating the Kentucky Derby runner-up will be a tall task for anyone in this field, but he possesses the race style that lends itself to a solid finish in the race.
If Journalism falters, or Sandman does not improve upon his performance at Churchill Downs, Gosger could surprise the racing world with a top-three finish in just his fourth race.
Trainer Brendan Walsh enters the Preakness for just the second time. His first came back in 2017, when he entered Multiplier in the Preakness, his first Triple Crown race.
Jockey Luis Saez is a two-time Belmont winner (Dornoch in 2024, Essential Quality in 2021) and will look to earn his first win in Baltimore Saturday.
