Queen's Plate 2015 Results: Winner, Payouts and Order of Finish
Shaman Ghost upset favorite Danish Dynaformer to win the 2015 edition of the Queen's Plate at Canada's Woodbine Racetrack. The victory is a necessary first step in a bid to win the Canadian Triple Crown.
It's also a shock blow for decorated trainer Roger Attfield. He was chasing a race-record ninth win in this event, according to Dan Ralph of the Globe and Mail.
Attfield must have felt confident in 3-to-1 favorite Danish Dynaformer's chances. But Shaman Ghost pulled off the mild surprise after a thrilling late surge to reach the post by a fraction.

Controversial Usyk TKO Win 🤔
Toronto Sun columnist Steve Buffery described the effort as a "huge stretch run" via his own official Twitter account. Meanwhile, sports writer Katie Lamb described the frantic finish by crediting the winner with nipping Danish Dynaformer at the post.
Here's the payout information from the big race:
| Horse | Place | Jockey | Trainer | Owner | Win | Place | Show |
| Shaman Ghost | 1 | Rafael Hernandez | Brian Lynch | Stronach Stables | $8.60 | $5.00 | $3.20 |
| Danish Dynaformer | 2 | Patrick Husbands | Roger Attfield | Charles Fipke | $4.30 | $3.00 | |
| Conquest Boogaloo | 3 | Alan Garcia | Mark Casse | Conquest Stables | $3.90 |
Considering Shaman Ghost entered the race as joint favourite, the victory is not a major shock. But as Buffery noted, it does represent a first-ever win for trainer Brian Lynch.
Scoring a win over the combination of an in-form Danish Dynaformer and Patrick Husbands was still a very impressive achievement. The latter was the winning jockey at the 2014 edition of this famous race.
Then he'd taken unfancied Lexie Lou to victory, but Husbands couldn't hold off Shaman Ghost, ridden by Puerto Rico's Rafael Hernandez. Not even a finishing-line inquiry, per Buffery, managed to alter the outcome.
Writing for the Toronto Star, Jennifer Morrison had wondered if changing jockeys to put Husbands on Danish Dynaformer would affect the favourite. She also noted how the horse's trial time "was not overly impressive," something that proved to be an ominous precursor to the race proper.
But credit where it's due, this race was more about how good Hernandez and Shaman Ghost were and less about how Danish Dynaformer was below his best.
Both horses will now begin being primed for the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes. Expect them to again be among the favorites.
