J.R. Smith Ejected with Flagrant-2 After Hard Foul on Jae Crowder
The Cleveland Cavaliers made things difficult for Boston Celtics forward Jae Crowder during Game 4 of their first-round playoff series Sunday.
After Crowder took a beating on a hard Kendrick Perkins screen, J.R. Smith delivered a brutal chop to his face on a rebound attempt. Smith was assessed a flagrant-2 and ejected on the play.
Update: April 27, 7:09 p.m. ET
The NBA has suspended Smith two games for his involvement in the play.
---End of update---
Crowder went to the locker room immediately following Smith's hard foul with a left knee sprain and did not return to the game.
Coincidentally, Smith was ejected with a flagrant-2 foul two years earlier to the day against the Celtics in the 2013 playoffs as a member of the New York Knicks.
Smith would later add that he's "nervous as hell" that he might be suspended for the play, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
