Underrated Players to Watch

Look, you’re going to want to keep an eye on LeBron James, Chris Paul, Tim Duncan, Damian Lillard, Marc Gasol and the other stars in action. That goes without saying. But these two guys might open some eyes on Day 2 of the playoffs:

Bojan Bogdanovic

When you hear the words “Brooklyn Nets,” what comes to your mind? Other than “no cap space…no picks…no future,” most people think of Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and former Atlanta Hawk Joe Johnson.

That trio will earn the most money and get the most headlines, but 26-year-old Croatian rookie Bojan Bogdanovic could make an even greater international name for himself during this first-round series.

Brooklyn seems to see a bright future for the first-year NBA pro, as the official team Twitter account used his likeness to promote the showdown with Atlanta.

From April 4 to April 15, the SG averaged 17.4 points while shooting 55.3 percent from the field and 51.4 percent from downtown. In the final game of the year—an absolute must-win for Brooklyn—the former overseas superstar erupted for a career-high 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting.

It seems that the bigger the stage, the bigger the shot, the bigger the moment…the bigger Bojan becomes.

Bogdanovic got some national love on April 17, as he was deservedly honored as the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. He'll look to carry that momentum into the postseason.

Right now, fans outside of Brooklyn might not be too familiar with the smooth, 6’7” guard. But if he stays hot and torches Atlanta, Bogdanovic could become a household name all over the world.

Kevin Love

You know Kevin Love.

Much has been made about the power forward’s relationship with LeBron James, about his playing time and about his looming free agency.

But how about what a big role he'll play in his first ever postseason appearance?

All year long, Love has been a reliable scoring and rebounding option while playing second (or is it third?) fiddle to LBJ. The former UCLA star’s numbers aren’t what they were during his heyday with the Minnesota Timberwolves, but they’re strong—17.5 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Love has never been to the postseason. And while LeBron and Kyrie Irving will be the stars of this show, Love needs to stay ready—just like Chris Bosh did when James was on the Miami Heat.

James told Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer that each member of the Big Three needs to be...well, big.

"They're gonna find ways to score, but they're not going to do it at the expense of the other guy," head coach David Blatt said of James, Irving and Love, per Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com. "They're going to help those guys find their spots, and those other guys are going to feed off of them, what they can do. That's a pretty good and lethal combination."

A lethal combination indeed.

Without Bosh, James might still be looking for his first title. And without Love, he’ll have a hard time bringing a title to his hometown.
