With the WWE coming to the Prudential Center on Monday night, many guessed that it would mark the return of New Jersey native AJ Lee to WWE programming.

Those forecasts turned out to be true, as the 27-year-old came to the rescue of Paige, who was being attacked by the Bella Twins.

There were unfortunately some chants for CM Punk, which somewhat spoiled the big moment, but as WrestlingInc.com's Twitter feed noted, there was still a big pop from the hometown crowd nonetheless:

This is obviously an important development for the Divas division. There is talent throughout the division, but no one is nearly as popular or possesses the same kind of star power as AJ, who has been away from the company since the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view on December 14.

WrestleMania is, of course, the bigger picture. After making the save, AJ formed a partnership with Paige backstage during the subsequent segment, setting up an anticipated tag team bout against the Bellas at WrestleMania 31 later this month.

Bleacher Report's Graham Matthews gave his thoughts:

The Divas division can always use a spark, and AJ is just the individual to provide it. The hope is that she and Paige are featured plenty over the next four weeks.

There is plenty of potential with this storyline, and it will be interesting to see how the company shapes it.
