Randolph Dealing With Knee Injury

Zach Randolph has taken a step away from the spotlight for the Memphis Grizzlies this season, as Marc Gasol and Mike Conley have really shined. But Randolph remains a key cog for the title contenders, making his recent injury all the tougher to swallow for Memphis. The center is dealing with a knee issue, according to Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal:
Randolph has been brilliant since joining Memphis in the 2009-10 season, averaging a double-double every season except 2011-12, when injuries limited him to 28 games. Paired with Gasol down on the block, Randolph helps to form one of the most dynamic post duos in the NBA, and his ability to powerfully crash the boards is another reason why Memphis is one of the league's most physical, defensively sound teams.
And he's been a huge reason why the the team has reached the postseason in four straight seasons and reached the Western Conference finals in 2013, losing to the San Antonio Spurs in four games.
While the 33-year-old Randolph is slowly ceding the reins of the team to Gasol and Conley, he's still a difference-maker in Memphis and a lengthy injury would put a major damper on the team's championship hopes. The Grizzlies will be hoping that Randolph's injury is nothing more than a temporary one.
