Alfredo Simon to Tigers: Latest Trade Details, Comments and Reaction
The Detroit Tigers' busy Thursday at the MLB winter meetings began with trading away a starting pitcher, but that has been rectified in the form of acquiring Alfredo Simon.
Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com first reported that Detroit picked up the 33-year-old righty in a deal with the Cincinnati Reds:

Per the Tigers' official Twitter account, they will send 23-year-old shortstop Eugenio Suarez and pitching prospect Jonathon Crawford to Cincinnati:
This move comes shortly after Detroit sent starter Rick Porcello to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, according to CJ Nitkowski of Fox Sports 1:
"Told Cespedes to Detroit, Porcello to Boston is done.

Simon went 15-10 with a 3.44 ERA and was named to the National League All-Star team in 2014. He will likely slot into Porcello's vacated rotation spot, but Matthew B. Mowery of The Oakland Press isn't convinced that he will be a satisfactory replacement:
Despite being 33, Simon had just 19 career starts to his credit prior to last season. He struggled down the stretch with an ERA of nearly 5.00 in August and a 4.34 ERA in September, so it will be interesting to see if he can recapture his form from early in the 2014 campaign.
If he can, then the Tigers should have a strong rotation with David Price and Anibal Sanchez already in the fold.
