Morneau Subject of Trade Talks with Marlins

First baseman Justin Morneau enjoyed a solid season last year, but the Colorado Rockies slugger might be on the move this offseason. In the midst of the winter meetings, one team that appears interested in Morneau are the Miami Marlins.

Joe Frisaro of MLB.com passed along the latest rumor surrounding the veteran:

Morneau, 33, finished last year at .319/.364/.496 with 17 home runs and 82 RBI. He is a four-time All-Star but hasn't earned the honor since the 2010 season.

Throughout his career, Morneau has at times struggled with injuries, including a debilitating concussion. Even with his recent success, Chris Towers of CBS Sports questions whether or not the Marlins should make a deal for the aging player:

Given his recent success, Morneau would bring a veteran presence to an otherwise young team. The Marlins have talent with the likes of Giancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich, but Morneau would add another great bat and plenty of experience.

Regardless of where Morneau lands, he has proven he can still produce plenty of power. In the middle of a lineup for a playoff contender, Morneau might return to All-Star caliber for a team desperately in need.
