Jennings Suffers Ankle Injury vs. Washington
Sunday, Dec. 14
The Giants ruled Jennings as questionable to return after he hurt his ankle in Week 15.
Jennings, had one yard on three carries before exiting and was replaced by Andre Williams. The rookie out of Boston College started four games earlier this season when Jennings went out with a knee injury.
In his first year with the Giants, Jennings' season has been mired by injury. Not only did the knee injury cost him more than a month, but the sixth-year back also went down with an ankle in his third game after returning. While he did not miss any time, it was just the latest blow in a Giants season that's gone quickly off the rails.
Jennings, finally getting his chance to be the lead dog after years as a backup, has largely been effective when on the field.
On a four-year deal without much in terms of dead money, it'll be interesting to see how the team handles Jennings after the season. He's not stayed healthy enough to earn long-term keeper status. Williams has been far from effective in his rookie season, but it wouldn't surprise anyone to see the Giants begin a full-scale rebuild.
If that's the case, they may reconsider whether an oft-injured running back headed for his 30th birthday is still part of the plan.
