Watkins Recovers from Hip Surgery
Friday, April 3
According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, Watkins "had a surgical procedure on his hip area early this offseason. Watkins reportedly suffered a hip injury in the team's 26-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns Nov. 30."
Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News reported that Watkins suffered a slight tear in his labrum and had surgery around the time of the Super Bowl. Carucci also noted that Watkins "will be able to work out lightly in offseason workout program. Won't participate in OTAs, but will be ready for training camp."
The 21-year-old was dealing with a hip injury prior to Week 14 against Denver that then-Bills head coach Doug Marrone didn't seem to know the severity of, per Mike Rodak of ESPN.com:
Watkins has plenty of time to recover from this procedure before the start of the 2015 season, so hopefully this becomes a non-issue when it's time for the Bills to take the field.
By adding star running back LeSean McCoy and head coach Rex Ryan this offseason, Buffalo has generated more anticipation entering next season than it has in a long time, and Watkins' health plays a huge role in that.
