Jarvis Landry's Updated 2014 Fantasy Outlook Heading into Week 13
Despite being drafted to a team that already had a plethora of proven veteran receivers, rookie second-round receiver Jarvis Landry is making a significant, immediate impact with the Miami Dolphins in 2014.
Landry leads the Dolphins in catches entering Week 13, and although he lacks the explosive ability of speedy teammate Mike Wallace, third-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill evidently trusts Landry as much as anyone.
Between Wallace, Brandon Gibson and Brian Hartline, who posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2012 and 2013, Miami has plenty of playmakers. However, that hasn't hampered Landry's production, and he's emerged as a legitimately strong fantasy flex play, and even a fringe WR2 in the past month.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel highlighted what makes Landry so difficult to keep under wraps:
ESPN draft expert Todd McShay scoffed at the perception that Landry's lack of top-end speed would harm his chances to succeed in the NFL:
As of late October, just before Landry went on his recent hot streak and soared up the Dolphins depth chart, he didn't seem fazed by a lesser role to begin the year.
"It's not about who starts, who's No. 1 on the depth chart, it's about the guys who step on the field and make plays," said Landry, per the Sun Sentinel's Craig Davis. "For me, things on the depth chart and decisions made like that are not up to me. I can only control what I can control when I've got the ball in my hands or when I touch the field."
NFL.com's Chris Trapasso praised Landry, who fell to the second round mostly due to the depth of receiving talent in the most recent draft:
Over his last four games, Landry has averaged eight targets per contest, recorded 24 receptions for 195 yards and scored four touchdowns. Two of those scores came in Sunday's loss at Denver, when Landry was targeted a career-high 11 times.
Dolphins radio personality Greg Likens documented what offensive coordinator Bill Lazor had to say about the impressive rookie pass-catcher:
To put Landry's proficiency in perspective, he has one more reception than Wallace for the season despite Wallace garnering 87 targets to Landry's 65. And with how precise Landry is as a route-runner, he figures to create more big plays as the chemistry between him and Tannehill inevitably improves.
Landry had to have benefited from his time at LSU, learning perhaps the most complex pro-style offense he could have hoped to digest under offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. That has translated well to the NFL for Landry thus far, and meanwhile his former teammate, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr., has also been a game-changer in the Big Apple.
Those fantasy owners who are just getting around to adding Landry on the waiver wire should pounce on the opportunity to do so, if he's still available.
In keeper leagues Landry is an especially wise long-term investment. Landry will turn 22 on Friday, just before Week 13's Monday night matchup with the AFC East rival New York Jets.
Although Jets coach Rex Ryan is known for his exotic defensive schemes, bear in mind that New York has been thin in the secondary all year. Ryan loves to bring pressure and all-out blitzes, which is something that could confuse a young QB like Tannehill.
Luckily for the Dolphins' signal-caller, he has a possession specialist like Landry to count on in those situations. Look for a lot of quick passes in Miami's game plan and for Landry to be the beneficiary in what could be the best game of his young career at MetLife Stadium.
Another showdown with the Jets looms in the regular-season finale, where Landry might be even more dangerous due to his accelerating development. Also remaining on the schedule are playoff-caliber opponents in New England and Baltimore, and if the Dolphins find themselves behind, Tannehill ought to be looking Landry's way plenty in the passing game.
So expect Landry to perform like a WR2 in Week 13, and don't be surprised if he maintains that level of play consistently through the end of the year.
