Giroud's Time to Shine During Walcott Absence
Walcott has spent a large part of his career on the physio's table, with a serious knee injury keeping him out of the side last season. Although still only 26 years old, he is one of the Gunners' senior players, approaching his ninth year with the north London club.
Olivier Giroud has been the chief rival to Walcott for a striking berth in Arsene Wenger's side this term, and he has the opportunity to cement his place during the Englishman's absence. They offer wildly varying skills—Giroud interlinks play; Walcott possesses explosive pace—but neither has managed to confirm himself as first-choice striker.
Giroud needs to prove Arsenal can rely on him to maintain their Premier League title challenge; otherwise he'll likely find himself replaced when Walcott returns.
