Denver Broncos vs. St. Louis Rams: What Are Experts Saying About Denver?
This Sunday, the 7-2 Denver Broncos travel to Missouri to take on the 3-6 St. Louis Rams.
The Broncos are one of the league's best teams and are coming off an easy win over their division foes, the Oakland Raiders.
The Rams are certainly not considered one of the league's better teams, yet in their defense, they have faced one of the toughest schedules so far and have been plagued by injuries.
Nonetheless, while the Rams are fighters, no one is expecting them to give the Broncos too much of a scare.
Here's what some of the experts across the country are saying about Sunday's showdown.
Jeff Legwold: The Broncos Are Far from Perfect in Their Eyes
1 of 5
ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold reported Thursday that while many may consider Denver to be a complete team, it is still trying to make corrections internally.
This is actually good news for Denver fans, as champions are never satisfied, and there's no doubt that the Broncos will be disappointed with anything short of a Super Bowl victory this season.
One thing in particular that Denver is looking to improve on is the running situation. Firstly, it's a mystery at the moment as to who the Broncos starting running back is. Montee Ball is returning from injury, Ronnie Hillman is currently banged up, and C.J. Anderson is the de facto starter at the moment after a big game last week in relief of Hillman.
Whoever carries the ball for Denver, the reality is that the reliability of the running game needs to improve. This is crucial to, as Manning says, the team's "rhythm."
Nick Wagoner: Alec Ogletree Is Starting to Emerge for St. Louis
2 of 5
ESPN.com's NFC West writer Nick Wagoner wrote Thursday that while St. Louis Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree has had a disappointing sophomore season, he's been coming around as of late.
Since an atrocious game against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7, "one could make the argument that Ogletree has been one of the team's best players...in two games since."
Ogletree has an amazing 22 tackles in the past two games and additionally has "an interception, a forced fumble and three pass breakups."
While injuries have riddled the Rams this season, Ogletree seems to be getting better as the season gets on. Denver is most certainly preparing a scheme to make No. 52 a non-factor Sunday.
Jeff Fisher: Peyton Manning Has Never Been Better
3 of 5
St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher is one of the most respected coaches in the league. A head coach since 1994 when he started with the Houston Oilers, Fisher is also one of the most veteran head coaches in the NFL.
Fisher knows his stuff, so when he says something, people listen.
As reported by Legwold on Wednesday, Fisher said this week that he "can't remember a time when [Manning] was playing better."
This isn't the boldest of proclamations, as Manning is having another great season, yet most quarterbacks tend not to play their best ball at 38 years old.
Considering that Fisher has "faced Manning 19 times as an NFL head coach," it's fair to say that he is making an educated statement here when he compliments Manning.
Fisher also added that Manning's supporting cast has never been better, which is a huge accolade to the Denver offensive line, wide receivers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders and tight end Julius Thomas.
Vegas: It's Not Going to Be Close
4 of 5
It's always worth it to take a look at how Vegas is projecting the game, and this week, our friends at OddsShark are calling for a Denver blowout.
The Broncos are favored by 10 points in St. Louis this Sunday, and the over/under stands at 51, meaning that Vegas is projecting this game to finish approximately 31-21 Broncos.
Honestly, that projection is a little conservative, as it certainly seems like Denver is capable of scoring more than 31 points. St. Louis is a tough team, however, and Denver could certainly try to play conservatively and control this game (and the clock) on the ground.
Bleacher Report Experts: No One Is Picking the Rams
5 of 5
Every week, 16 Bleacher Report writers and analysts pick every game, straight up, in the NFL.
This week, all 16 "Bleachies" picked the Denver Broncos to beat the St. Louis Rams.
This is not too surprising, and there's not much to take away here. Denver fans should revel in an easy win for their team Sunday, yet there are certainly some other games going on across the league that should be more interesting to watch.
I am certainly more excited to watch another NFC West-AFC West showdown Sunday that's taking place on the other side of Missouri. The Seattle Seahawks are taking on the Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City is only one game behind Denver in the AFC West race. Denver fans should be equally interested in both games this weekend.
Enjoy, folks!
