WWE 2K15: Superstars Who Will Provide Most Enjoyment in Highly Anticipated Game
Every year, wrestling fans everywhere welcome the newest edition of the WWE video game series with open arms. Everybody loves playing fantasy booker, and this is the one time when you can finally see that Mark Henry WWE World Heavyweight Championship run for which you've been clamoring.
The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of WWE 2K15 are already on shelves, with the next-gen editions to come in November.
One of the biggest keys to any game is replay value. You don't want to shell out $60 only to get bored with a video game after a week.
The four wrestlers below should help avoid any stagnation as you dive deeper into WWE 2K15.
Sting (Retro)
It's kind of sad that there's a segment of fans growing up who have no idea who Sting is and why he's one of the greatest of his generation.
That should change with the growth of the WWE Network and his inclusion in WWE 2K15. Sting's available in the game but only as a pre-order exclusive at this stage.
"The only thing for sure about Sting is nothing's for sure, except my debut in WWE 2K15," Sting said, per IGN.com's Luke Karmali. "I'm honored to have my legacy immortalized in a video game. It's showtime!"
Users can choose between two versions of Sting: the bleach-blonde early Sting of the late 1980s and early '90s and "Crow" Sting, synonymous with that awesome nWo angle and, unfortunately, Starrcade 1997. As great as "Crow" Sting was, retro Sting is the way to go.
The early version of Sting was so much fun to watch. He was a great athlete who happened to also be a very good technical wrestler. Sting was basically a better Ultimate Warrior. His battles against Ric Flair and Vader are worth going back and watching if you haven't already.
If you need any more evidence as to why retro Sting is superior, look at that ring jacket below, courtesy of WCW WorldWide:
Maybe next year, WWE 2K developers can get around to adding RoboCop, too.
Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville
Every year, one or two wrestlers debut in a WWE video game and boast a move set unlike anybody else. Guys like Rey Mysterio, Rob Van Dam and, to a certain extent, Sin Cara were awesome because they had stuff that was unique to them.
This year, that honor falls to Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville. They're two of the biggest stars at NXT and have styles unlike many of the wrestlers on the main roster. Neville almost literally defies the laws of physics, while Zayn's tornado DDT through the ropes is alone worth going back to as you pop in WWE 2K15.
Neville and Zayn are poised to be among WWE's building blocks in the years ahead, and WWE 2K15 is a great time for them to reach the fans who haven't been watching NXT religiously.
Brock Lesnar
After a while, it gets kind of boring playing with the same stars each and every year. John Cena, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels are all legends, but they've been in every WWE video game for the last decade. There's only a finite number of moves that they can deliver. They're not going to change all that much from one year to the next.
With that said, Brock Lesnar is one of the few who's been a staple throughout the series yet remains fun to control. He boasts a diverse array of moves, and more importantly, he's a complete monster. His combination of power, speed and athleticism is unparalleled in the company and in the game.
It's not going to take much to win a match when you're wrestling as Lesnar. It's almost impossible not to win with him.
Not to mention he's beaten John Cena twice and The Undertaker at WrestleMania within the last year. His rating in the game will be off the charts. You might want to lay down the ground rule that he's off-limits in multiplayer modes.
