World Series Schedule: TV Info and Live Stream for Giants vs. Royals Game 7

Sean ODonnellOct 29, 2014

All the San Francisco Giants needed was one more road win.

That wasn't the case Tuesday night, as the Kansas City Royals had their way with the visiting team, tormenting the Giants to the tune of a 10-0 final score. The Royals' victory forces a pivotal and enthralling Game 7 of the 2014 World Series.

This championship series has been a series of peaks and valleys for both of these squads. The Giants had all the momentum following Games 4 and 5, but they couldn't get anything going on the mound or at the plate in Game 6. It's been a similar story for Kansas City as well.

Preview and Prediction

KANSAS CITY, MO - OCTOBER 28: Omar Infante #14 of the Kansas City Royals sildes into home to score in the fifth inning against Buster Posey #28 of the San Francisco Giants during Game Six of the 2014 World Series at Kauffman Stadium on October 28, 2014 i

Let's talk for a moment about the Royals lineup. These hitters couldn't muster anything against San Francisco's bullpen in Game 4 or Madison Bumgarner in Game 5, failing to record a single run in 15 consecutive innings. However, in Game 6, they could do no wrong.

This is a very streaky lineup, and all it takes is a little confidence and momentum before every hitter comes to life. That's exactly what happened in the second inning Tuesday, as this team recorded these incredible numbers, via SportsCenter:

Alex Gordon got things going with a single to center. Salvador Perez followed suit with a single to right. Mike Moustakas came through with an RBI double after that, and the lineup just didn't look back.

This is what makes the Royals such a dangerous team in an elimination game. Every hitter in the lineup has the ability to strike, starting a chain reaction of manufactured runs that can result in big numbers on the scoreboard very quickly.

Here's a look at how good the Royals' bats were in Game 6, via ESPN Stats & Info:

Attempting to stop that from happening in Game 7 will be Tim Hudson. He earned the loss in Game 3 but fared nicely, allowing four hits and three runs over 5.2 innings. The game's 3-2 score was the closest contest we've seen so far this World Series.

Jeremy Guthrie was on the mound for the Royals in that contest, and he'll be making his second World Series start as well on Wednesday. Guthrie went five innings in Game 3, allowing four hits and two runs en route to a 3.60 ERA. He isn't a strikeout artist, so he'll need the athletic Kansas City defense to be in top form.

Should Guthrie manage to last five more innings in Game 7, the Royals will be able to rely on their impeccable bullpen to close out the game once again. Here's a look at what these pitchers did the last time Guthrie left the mound:

Kelvin Herrera1.100021027-130.00
Brandon Finnegan0.20000108-40.00
Wade Davis1.000002012-90.00
Greg Holland1.00000008-50.00

These relievers are well-rested following a travel day and remaining inactive in Game 6. Rest assured, both Kelvin Herrera and Wade Davis will be coming into action with big chips on their shoulders after each were hit off of a couple of times in Game 5.

Based on what we know about the Kansas City bullpen's ability to close out games and taking into consideration the lineup's current hot streak, the advantage in Game 7 has to go to a pumped-up Royals team playing in front of a fired-up home crowd.

After all, San Francisco doesn't exactly have a good history in elimination games, via ESPN Stats & Info:

This season, the Royals will, indeed, take the crown.

Prediction: Royals 5, Giants 3
