Texas A&M Football: Game-by-Game Prediction for the Month of November
The Texas A&M football team enters the final months of the 2014 regular season with a 5-3 record overall and a 2-3 record in the SEC. The Aggies will go 3-1 in their remaining games and match their 8-4 regular season record from 2013.
The Texas A&M football team is currently riding a three-game losing streak. It just had its first bye week of the season and first opportunity to assess what worked and did not work during the first eight games.
The Aggies have some issues on defense caused by inept play at the linebacker position. That cannot be addressed during the season. The coaches should be able to address some play-calling issues that have popped up during the losing streak.
You cannot win football games when everyone knows what play you are going to call on offense. Aggie offensive coordinator Jake Spavital has become predictable—hopefully this has been addressed during the bye week.
This is a look at how the Aggies will do during the month of November.
Louisiana-Monroe
1 of 4
The Texas A&M football team will play Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday, November 1 at Kyle Field. This will be the Aggies' last nonconference game of the season.
The Warhawks sit at 3-4 on the season and should not present much of a challenge to the Aggies. Assuming that the Aggies get the ship righted on offense, they should be able to score at will against Louisiana-Monroe.
The Warhawks struggle on offense, averaging only 2.7 yards per rushing attempt and are only averaging 17.6 points per game. The Aggies should be able to get a big lead early and play some backups in the second half.
Texas A&M will beat Louisiana-Monroe 52-13.
Auburn
2 of 4
The Aggies travel to Auburn, Alabama on November 8 to take on the Auburn Tigers. Auburn is the best football team remaining on Texas A&M's schedule.
The Tigers are the highest-ranked team remaining on the Aggies' schedule, sitting at No. 4 in the latest AP poll.
The Aggies do not match up well with the Tigers. Auburn is averaging 281 yards rushing per game and six yards per rushing attempt. The combination of Cameron Artis-Payne, Nick Marshall and Corey Grant on the ground will be too much for the Aggie linebackers to handle.
The 5'10", 210-pound Artis-Payne is the kind of bigger running back that the Aggies have struggled against in 2014. Marshall is bigger than Artis-Payne and Grant offers the Tigers a nice change in speed.
Auburn has a very tough defensive line that is allowing only 3.4 yards per rush attempt and 362.4 total yards per game. Junior defensive tackle DaVonte Lambert leads the Tigers with six tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
Auburn features a spread-option attack on offense that will take advantage of the Aggies' poor linebacker play. The Aggies will struggle to slow down the Tiger on offense.
Auburn will beat Texas A&M 45-29.
Missouri
3 of 4
Texas A&M will play Missouri on November 15 at Kyle Field. Missouri is currently 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the SEC, and the Tigers have been schizophrenic in 2014.
They looked great in a 42-13 win in Gainesville but struggled in a 34-0 loss at home to Georgia. Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk has completed only 52 percent of his passes in 2014 for 1,368 yards with 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
They are led by running backs Russell Hansbrough and Marcus Murphy on the ground. Hansbrough has rushed for 572 yards with seven touchdowns while Murphy has rushed for 467 yards and a touchdown.
Hansbrough and Murphy are both smaller running backs who are extremely elusive, and the Aggies should not have problems matching up with them physically.
This is a game the Aggies will win at home. They match up well with Missouri and will beat them 38-23 at Kyle Field.
LSU
4 of 4
The Aggies will play the LSU Tigers at Kyle Field on Thanksgiving Day. The Tigers are 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the SEC.
This will be a winnable game for the Aggies at home. The Tigers have improved as the season has gone on and are now effectively running the ball on offense.
They are one-dimensional on offense with inconsistent play at quarterback. They have started both Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris at quarterback in 2014. They have combined to complete 51 percent of their passes with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Louisiana State has a tremendous deep threat at wide receiver in sophomore receiver Travin Dural. He has caught 27 passes for 676 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Tigers defense has improved as the season has gone on and has developed into a very solid unit. The defense is allowing 15.9 points per game and 318.1 total yards per game.
This will be a low-scoring, competitive game. Look for the Aggies to grind out a win at home and beat LSU 26-20.
