Johnny Jam Boogie
1 of 6Love him or hate him, Johnny “Football” Manziel definitely has a brand all his own. This year, Manziel’s trademark woes for Johnny Football have been plastered all over sports media. So, what is a guy to do when he is feeling so blue? Eat a Snickers, of course!
Enter the Johnny Jam Boogie Snickers commercial. We're used to seeing Manziel in tights every Sunday. However, something about this often arrogant player leading a jazzercise class while sporting a sweatband and an outfit even Richard Simmons would be jealous of puts a smile on your face.
Grab out your Under Armour gear, a few sweat bands, some '80s-style slouchy socks and rock the look that has arguably been the most overplayed commercial this football season.
Oh, and don’t forget to carry around a Snickers bar. Come to think of it, a few bars would be a good idea. You know, just for sustenance.
Richard Sherman and Erin Andrews
2 of 6In one of the most memorable moments leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII, Richard Sherman accosted Erin Andrews during a postgame interview with this rant about Michael Crabtree, via USA Today:
"I’m the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s the result you gonna get. Don’t you ever talk about me. [...] Don’t you open your mouth about the best or I’m gonna shut it for you real quick.
"
Sherman was also revealed to be on the cover of Madden NFL 15 this year. He has many sports fans on “curse watch," given the history of the video game honor.
Grab your Sherman jersey and bat away items held by other party goers in the spirit of his “immaculate deflection” nickname. Don’t forget to accuse everyone of talking smack about you afterward.
A fun couple’s costume idea would be having one of your gal pals dressed as Andrews with a microphone asking you questions while looking surprised.
Ickey Woods
3 of 6The only thing you need to know about Ickey Woods is that “Ickey Woods loves cold cuts!”
Well, maybe two things. Woods is also remembered fondly for his “Ickey Shuffle” end-zone dance.
Put the two together and you have a hilariously energetic costume. Just grab an orange tee and a Ziploc baggie of tan folded construction paper to replicate the cold cuts.
Do not bring real cold cuts out with you, less you want to be chased by stray dogs and smell of pastrami.
Then prepare for everyone to ask you to show them how to shuffle, shuffle, show them how to shuffle!
Jameis Winston
4 of 6
We venture to guess Jameis Winston didn’t have the Internet on his mind when he allegedly stole crab legs from a Publix super market earlier this year. The Internet blew up with humorous memes of Winston and his beloved crab legs after the story was released.
Just this month (via SI.com), Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse of Louisville announced it would be removing crab legs from the menu while Winston and the Florida State Seminoles were in town.
Coincidentally, the game between the Seminoles and the Cardinals is to be played on October 30, just one day before Halloween, making this possibly the timeliest sports costume this year.
Simply wear a Seminoles tee or jersey and carry around/smuggle some good ol' crab legs. We suggest not stealing them. Instead, just roll up some crumpled red card stock and tape the tabs closed for the legs. Because after 30 minutes your costume might get a little fishy.
Or make it a couple's costume, as this twosome cleverly pulled off.
Lorde Royals Baseball
5 of 6
With the Kansas City Royals going to the World Series this year, a lot of attention has been on the song Royals by English singer/songwriter Lorde. She claims to have been inspired by a photograph of George Brett to pen the hit single. While the song is an instant anthem for Royals fans, many San Francisco radio stations refuse to play the song during the World Series (via SB Nation).
Also, inspired by a recent South Park episode where Randy Marsh (Stan’s dad) reveals himself as Lorde, the ridiculous mash-up idea makes for one funny costume.
Find a long, dark wig, smudge some dark eye makeup around your eyes and wear a Royals tee or jersey over a black dress to embody this fun “gender bender” mash-up! Memorizing the lyrics is key to knocking this costume out of the park!
**Yeah Yeah Yeah, I am Lorde, Yeah Yeah Yeah!**
Hans and Franz and Rodgers!
6 of 6Possibly the best group costume this year is no doubt the State Farm commercial with the classic SNL skit “Hans and Franz” starring Kevin Nealon, Dana Carvey and Aaron Rodgers. Nealon and Carvey reprised these nostalgic roles just in time for the commercial.
Row, row, row your boat gently down the loser stream to the general store for a matching grey sweat suit or order the licensed version available here.
Don’t forget to perfect your German accent and come up with nonsensical insults to “pump…[clap]…you up!”
