Monday Night Football Week 8: TV Schedule, Live Stream for Redskins vs. Cowboys
Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy has a rich tradition of winning in the state of Texas. On Monday Night Football, the former Longhorn will look to extend that tradition with a win over the Dallas Cowboys in a homecoming of sorts on prime time.
Getting that win won't be easy for the Redskins (2-5), of course. The Cowboys (6-1) have spent the last six weeks staking a legitimate claim to being the best team in the NFC.
Now, Tony Romo and Co. will have the opportunity to make yet another statement in front of a national television audience. Here's all the information you'll need to know to make sure you don't miss this storied NFC East rivalry game.

At first glance, this is a matchup that has all of the makings of a good old-fashioned blowout. The Cowboys have obviously been the better team up to this point in the season. Their record has them atop the NFC East, while the Redskins have floundered in the early going.
Then there's the issue of the quarterback position. After benching Kirk Cousins in favor of McCoy in last week's win over the Tennessee Titans, head coach Jay Gruden told Redskins.com that he is prepared to give McCoy the start this week if Robert Griffin III still cannot return from a dislocated ankle:
"We’re preparing for Colt to be the starter. But we’re trying to get Robert some reps, get him ready, but right now it looks like odds are Colt will be the starter, but we’re trying to work Robert into the lineup and trying to get him reps to get him ready to go.
"
However, being forced to win with McCoy or a hobbled RGIII might not be the worst thing for the Redskins. A closer look at this matchup gives Washington a route to victory—establish the running game.
Here's how the teams stack up, according to Football Outsider's DVOA metric:
| 13 | Run Offense DVOA | 3 |
| 23 | Pass Offense DVOA | 6 |
| 8 | Run Defense DVOA | 26 |
| 24 | Pass Defense DVOA | 11 |
The Cowboys have had a great season thus far. However, looking at their DVOA rankings against the backdrop of the rest of the league, stopping the run has been an issue.
That's where Alfred Morris comes in. It's no secret that the star running back has struggled to post numbers in Jay Gruden's offense. After netting 1,000-yard seasons in each of his last two years, Morris is averaging a paltry 3.8 yards per carry.
Dallas might just be the team that Morris needs to go against to get going. According to Pro-Football-Reference.com, he has averaged a whopping 120.5 yards per game in four contests against the Cowboys.
Even if Morris is able to finally get going, the Redskins are going to struggle. Looking at how each team stacks up in terms of DVOA, it's clear that Dallas is the more well-rounded team. With DeMarco Murray entering the week as the league's leading rusher and Tony Romo playing like a man possessed through the first half of the season, the Cowboys should ultimately pull this game out.
Prediction: Dallas 27, Washington 17
