Golden State Warriors power forward David Lee could be facing some time off as he battles a hamstring injury.

Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reported the news of Lee's ailment:

Lee, 31, has been a crucial part of the Warriors offense since joining the team in 2010-2011. Last season, Lee averaged 18.2 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists as Golden State finished 51-31 before falling in the first round of the playoffs to the Los Angeles Clippers.

During the postseason, Lee's numbers dipped to 13.9 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. Coming into the 2014-15 season, Lee worked on his shot to improve his game, per Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle:

"

I know I can shoot the ball. All it was about was getting that confidence back after not shooting much last year. … I’ll be ready to take and make that shot when it’s there now. …

I understand why I went away from it. It seemed at times like we’d go quarters at a time without getting any shots in the paint. I tried to be the guy who attacked the paint more.

"

This isn't the first injury for Lee, who has been mired with setbacks over the last few seasons. After playing in 79 games in 2012-13, he suffered a hip injury during the playoffs. Lee also suffered a nerve injury last season that hampered him.

When healthy, Lee can be a huge component in the paint for the Warriors. Zach Harper of CBS Sports offered his thoughts on Lee prior to the season:

If Lee is forced to miss any time, Draymond Green will likely have a heightened role. The third-year player averaged 6.2 points and 5.0 rebounds last season in just 21.9 minutes per game.

The Michigan State product can fill the role, but doesn't offer the same offensive presence as Lee. Luckily, with plenty of offensive weapons like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala, the Warriors can still compete.

After earning the sixth seed last season, the Warriors have hopes of finishing higher and making a long run in the playoffs. Losing Lee for an extended period will seriously hurt the chances of that happening.
