Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard could well be facing a long stint on the sidelines after he was carried off on a stretcher in the Premier League champions’ clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, as Fox Soccer Trax reported:
The 36-year-old went down with a thigh problem midway through the first half, and appeared in agony as he was taken down the tunnel to a standing ovation from the City faithful.

Lampard has been a Premier League ever-present throughout his entire career, as he’s been lucky enough to be blessed with a consistently clean bill of health.
However, Saturday’s injury could well force him out for some time—something that hasn’t happened an awful lot, according to broadcaster Ian Abrahams:
The former Chelsea star has surprised many with his brilliance since donning the sky-blue shirt for the first time, and his place in the starting line-up against Spurs showed how much City manager Manuel Pellegrini values his services.
Lampard repaid such faith almost instantly by setting up both of Sergio Aguero’s opening goals—one of which came from a penalty—and his injury will be a crushing blow to the manager’s plans.

It’s unknown how long the Englishman will be out of action, but Fox Soccer Trax believes it could well be a serious problem:
City are in Champions League action against CSKA Moscow on Tuesday before a tough-looking trip to Upton Park to face Lampard's former club, West Ham, the following Saturday.
Two big games call for a big, experienced player; but unfortunately, it’s looking like the 36-year-old will have to watch on.
