Twitter Reacts to Sergio Aguero's 4-Goal Performance vs. Tottenham
The international break did nothing to slow down Sergio Aguero. The Manchester City striker netted two goals in the first half and two more in the second in a high-profile clash with Tottenham. It marks his fourth straight match with at least one tally.
His first came after a poor giveaway in the defensive third by Spurs. Frank Lampard delivered the ball to the Argentinian international, who delayed for a second before taking a quick touch and crushing a shot past Hugo Lloris. The second was a perfectly placed penalty after a foul on Lampard.
Let's check out some of the reaction to his strong showing.

The first goal further extended a string of success against Tottenham, as noted by OptaJoe:
Ray Ratto of CSN Bay Area provided a more unique analysis:
Kristian Walsh of the Liverpool Echo said what most were probably thinking:
The second goal was a record-breaking effort. Paul Carr of ESPN noted it allowed Aguero to pass Carlos Tevez for Premier League tallies with Manchester City:
Duncan Alexander of OptaJoe notes how well the striker's Premier League career has started:
Aguero didn't play a perfect half of football, though. He got another penalty attempt after a foul on David Silva but couldn't convert as Lloris made a key stop.
Ben Lyttleton of Soccernomics noticed a change in approach from the Spurs goalkeeper:
After a few more chances in the minutes that followed, Stuart Brennan of Manchester Evening News noted that the home side created enough chances to have a truly special opening 45 minutes:
Despite the brace from Aguero, City only went into halftime with a 2-1 edge. The penalty save by Lloris kept Spurs, who are looking to prove they are still a major top-four threat, firmly in the match amid the terrific effort from the Sky Blues' top scorer.
Unfortunately for Spurs, he wasn't done there.
Aguero stepped to the penalty spot for the third time just inside the 70th minute after a foul by Federico Fazio that earned him a red card. Unlike on the second attempt, this time the hat trick was completed with another clinical finish.
WhoScored points out he's the second player to score a hat trick this term:
A handful of minutes later, he made it four.
It was an outstanding individual effort that seen him slide past Jan Vertonghen before unleashing an unstoppable stop into the far corner.
The aforementioned Ratto has an idea to help out opposing defenders:
Golf star Lee Westwood also took notice of the performance:
City noted he was voted Man of the Match in what was surely one of the easiest choices of the year:
What fans witnessed today was a player with a massive amount of talent who combined it with a high level of confidence to produce a memorable outing at the Etihad. It felt like every time he touched to ball something big was going to happen.
The 4-1 triumph also ensured City wouldn't lose any ground on Chelsea atop the Premier League table. The Blues are off to a red-hot start, so the reigning champions just have to stay within striking distance until they cool off.
Aguero made sure they got all three points this week.
