Orioles vs. Royals: Game 4 Time, TV Info, Live Stream and More
The Kansas City Royals just keep finding ways to get it done in clutch moments, and it's created quite the gap between them and the Baltimore Orioles as we enter Game 4 of the American League Championship Series.
A 2-1 victory at home Tuesday over the O's pushed the Royals' lead to three games, and it also continued their incredible perfect tear through the postseason. Kansas City has gone from the Wild Card Game to the cusp of a World Series without having dropped a single game.
The Orioles certainly took a must-win attitude into Game 3 hoping to avoid the 0-3 hole, but they'll have to search to find that again, all while figuring out how to slow down a Royals team that is speeding toward doing what it did the last time the franchise made the playoffs in 1985—win the World Series.

Despite losing their two opening home games and heading to Kansas City needing one win just to get another chance to play at Camden Yards this year, the Orioles headed into Game 3 confident they could turn the tide and make it a much more interesting series at 2-1.
Then, well, nothing changed. The Royals kept winning close ones by squeaking out a 2-1 victory and stayed perfect in the postseason, as MLB demonstrated:
Mike Moustakas, who had been getting it done at the plate with four postseason homers, continued to come up big in Game 3. He made an incredible leaping catch in the sixth inning in foul territory, flipping over a wall and landing headfirst to secure the out.
But it was largely the Royals bullpen that led the way, as the team's Twitter account noted its insane success rate in Game 3:
Before Game 3 took place, the Royals tabbed Jason Vargas for the Game 4 start rather than throw out James Shields on short rest. It wasn't an easy move but the right one with Shields having thrown 195 pitches this postseason (90 in Game 1).
Vargas has been keeping fresh in the hopes of a bullpen appearance, according to MLB.com's Jane Lee, but he's more than ready to take the mound Wednesday.
"I've never had this much rest," Vargas told Lee. "So I couldn't give you a good guideline on what I'll be looking for. But I'll be ready to go and be ready to try to execute my game plan and execute pitches."

Shields is way ahead of Vargas in the rotation, but the left-hander's playoff debut indicates he may be the hotter hand. He allowed just two earned runs (both homers) in six innings during a win in the ALDS against the Angels, while Shields gave up 10 hits and four earned runs in Game 1 against the O's.
Baltimore doesn't have the luxury of knowing its starter is used to the playoff spotlight, with Miguel Gonzalez making his first appearance in the postseason. He had a 10-9 record and a 3.23 ERA during the season.

The Orioles were right in the thick of this series after two games thanks to their hitting success, but they'll need to find it in Game 4 after going cold Tuesday night. It will take a big performance to stump Vargas and put the pressure on the Royals' magnificent bullpen.
Even if that happens, Kansas City's defense is keeping pretty much anything from hitting the ground, and its offense is generating runs in every way possible. If it's close down the stretch, there's no secret who has the advantage.
Don't be surprised if the Royals pull off the sweep Wednesday night.
