3 Key Themes of the Social Chatter from 49ers vs. Rams on Monday Night Football
The San Francisco 49ers managed to defeat the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football the night that the Rams were recognizing "The Greatest Show on Turf" at halftime.
San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick must not have gotten the memo, as he seemed intent on spoiling the night for the Rams.
While the story for the 49ers was clearly their talented quarterback, the futility of the 2014 Rams and their pass rush at key junctures took the spotlight away from the '99 Rams.

Analysts and social media departments took to Twitter to discuss this matchup and the storylines it created.
The Greatest Show on Turf
2014 marks the 15th anniversary of the 1999 Rams, who were the first St. Louis NFL franchise to win a championship.
Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Torry Holt, Orlando Pace and other members of the team were recognized at halftime.
The GSOT even engaged in its signature "Bob 'N Weave" celebration one more time.
Unfortunately for the current Rams, quarterback Austin Davis came back down to earth in the second half, completing barely 50 percent of his passes for 99 yards and an interception.
The Success of Colin Kaepernick
The Greatest Show on Turf on Monday night was Kaepernick and the way in which he steered his team to victory.
Kaepernick finished with 343 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, no interceptions and 37 rushing yards.
This performance was the best by a 49ers quarterback since Steve Young in 1988, according to ProFootballReference, and put Kaepernick on par with the Niners great through their first 28 starts, as noted by SportsCenter.
The Niners quarterback continues to show he is the most mobile QB in the league, rushing for just enough to help his team and make plays.
Rams' Futility and Pass Rush
The St. Louis Rams jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the back of the stellar play of Davis in the first half. Davis was 11-of-14 passing for 137 yards and a touchdown in the first half, but the play of the defense caught up to the Rams.
With under 30 seconds left in the half, Rams corner Janoris Jenkins allowed Niners wide receiver Brandon Lloyd to get behind him for an 80-yard touchdown that cut the Rams lead to 14-10 at the half.
From that point on, Kaepernick played even better, dazzling the fans as he evaded the Rams pass rush. The Rams have three first-rounders in their defensive line rotation but have only managed one sack this season.
The rest of the defense has struggled because of this lack of defensive line strength. The secondary can't cover forever, and the linebackers are consistently blocked.
The Rams will have to improve this part of their defense if they want other pieces to develop up to their potential.
