Ireland vs. Gibraltar: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

Tom SunderlandOct 10, 2014

The Republic of Ireland will seek to replicate the success of Group D leaders Poland on Saturday when they welcome Gibraltar to Dublin with Euro 2016 qualification in view.

The Poles put seven goals past European football's newest outfit as they cruised to an unanswered victory, and Martin O'Neill will hope his men can be just as menacing in all areas.

The boys in green won't be taking anything for granted, however, and with Germany lurking just around the qualification corner, the Irish need to clinch every readily available point that comes in their direction.

Key Players to Watch

Republic of Ireland: Aiden McGeady

O'Neill's squad isn't stacked with stars of the utmost quality, but there are nevertheless those figures in the Republic of Ireland who have some degree of that "special something," of whom Aiden McGeady is one.

The manager recently praised his winger after McGeady netted both of Ireland's goals in a 2-1 win over Group D rivals Georgia, the second of which came at the death. O'Neill is quoted by The Score praising his trickster:

"

He’s one of very few players in the game that can take people on and actually make something happen. Of course the first few times he got the ball against Georgia, he gave it away. He came inside, made a little run, played a little pass and Georgia came straight on the attack – twice it happened. But the great thing about him is he didn’t get his head down, it didn’t seem to affect him.

"

Not that the Republic of Ireland will truly need all their stars running at their optimum to clinch a result against Gibraltar, but McGeady is nevertheless a man in good international form.

Against rather lowly defensive opposition on Saturday, the wide man should be looking to add further to his goal count, working with the likes of Robbie Keane to ease O'Neill's concerns in attack.

Gibraltar: Kyle Casciaro

Kyle Casciaro will go down in Gibraltar's history as the man who gave them their first-ever international win, a sole score against Malta in June, as confirmed by the Toronto Sun's Kurtis Larson:

That goal remains the Lincoln forward's only strike for the national side, but Allen Bula will be hoping the Aviva Stadium can coax the best out of his striker-cum-winger.

Scoring opportunities are bound to be few and far between for the visitors, who will likely be forced on to the back foot for long period. Gibraltar will hope that Casciaro can work his magic again this weekend.
