Manchester United Transfer News: Angel Di Maria Reveals Plan to Return Home
Manchester United's Angel Di Maria only recently made the move to the Premier League, but in an interview with Argentine radio, he revealed he already has plans to one day return to his home country of Argentina.
According to Sky Sports' Andres Garavaglia, the winger told Radio del Plata he has already spoken with Javier Mascherano and Ezequiel Lavezzi about a return to former club Central:
"As for anyone it was a dream for me to come to Europe. But it will also be a dream to play again in Central. Central will always be first in my head. I’ve talked with Pocho [Ezequiel Lavezzi] and Masche [Javier Mascherano] to return to Central together.

When you ask me how I will return to Argentine football, I tell you how I will not go back. Then show them a video of Central.

Star-Studded World Cup Ad 🤩
The former Real Madrid star has enjoyed a great start to life in the Premier League, scoring two goals and adding two assists in four appearances, per WhoScored.com.
The 26-year-old was one of the Red Devils' marquee signings of the summer and is seen as one of Louis van Gaal's biggest building blocks as he attempts to resurrect the club following a disappointing year under David Moyes.
Manchester Evening News' Stuart Mathieson has been more than just impressed with the Argentina international:
Blessed with pace, technique and incredible vision, Di Maria belongs to the small cluster of players that could rightfully be labelled "world class." His skill set is tailor-made for the Premier League, and United fans are undoubtedly hoping he will be terrorising English defences for years to come.
It might be a little unnerving for the club's fans and management to already hear the star forward dream about his life after United just months after completing a £59.7 million move to Old Trafford, per Garavaglia.
There's no reason to believe Di Maria is unhappy with his current situation, however, and it's highly unlikely he will leave Europe to return to his native Argentina anytime soon.
The top players in the world still all earn their wages in one of the European leagues, and those wages are far higher than anything the South American leagues can offer.
It's natural for a player to have the desire to return home, to the club where it all began, but unless that club is a global force in the sport, top stars like Di Maria don't usually make the move until they're well past their prime.
The Argentine has had success in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, and United made a significant investment in his services. He has Premier League glory on his mind, and as one of the best players in the sport, it's unlikely he'll leave the club before finding success in England as well.
If Di Maria can build on his excellent start, there's little doubt he'll cement his legacy as one of the best Premier League players of his generation. A romantic reunion with Central sounds like the perfect ending to his career, but with the winger yet to even reach his peak, such an ending can wait.
