New Barcelona signing Douglas is set to miss the Blaugrana's Champions League trip to Paris Saint-Germain after sustaining an injury in Sunday's training session. He is replaced in the squad by Martin Montoya, as tweeted by the club's social media feed:
Douglas will continue to be monitored this week, noted by the Catalan club's official website:
"The Medical Services revealed today that the Brazilian full-back is still feeling pain after sustaining the injury in training on Sunday and so he will miss the trip to PSG and his availability for training this week will depend on how things develop.
"
The Brazilian full-back was something of a surprise acquisition this summer. Luis Enrique needed to provide the often complacent Dani Alves with world-class competition in the right full-back position but opted for a player who was enduring a mixed run of form with Sao Paulo.
While obviously talented, Douglas' versatility is likely to have influenced the new manager's decision.
He made his La Liga debut during the 0-0 draw with Malaga in which he was cautioned and substituted with 23 minutes left on the clock, per WhoScored.com. He appeared extremely nervous during the encounter and committed a number of silly fouls, while his attacking play also lacked the quality Barcelona's full-backs are renowned for.

B/R UK's Allan Jiang judged Douglas' debut harshly, saying, "Every time the camera zoomed in for a close-up of his face, the impostor syndrome was at work."
Alves, on the other hand, provided one of the season's classiest crosses to set up a fantastic Lionel Messi goal during Saturday's 6-0 win over Granada.
Barcelona currently sit top of La Liga with five wins and one draw from six games, but most impressively, Enrique's side are yet to concede a goal.
The team also remain perfect in the Champions League, having beaten APOEL 1-0 during the opening round of fixtures. Douglas will have to wait for his European debut and won't travel with the squad to face PSG at the Parc des Princes.

Such an injury could be a blessing in disguise for Barca, who face their toughest test of the group stage during the trip to France. Laurent Blanc's men focus play through the wings in a 4-3-3 formation and could have exploited Douglas' nerves in what is sure to be an intense atmosphere.
Should Barca return to the Camp Nou with their run of clean sheets intact, the result will be deemed a success.
