WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for September 26

Erik BeastonSep 23, 2014

Following Night of Champions and Monday's Raw, the wrestling world is buzzing about Dean Ambrose. In the absence of Roman Reigns, he has seen his star skyrocket in a short time, sharing the ring with John Cena and playing a major role in Raw's closing segment.

Friday night on SmackDown, he squares off with The Miz in a match built on Tuesday's Main Event broadcast. Will the Hollywood star be able to halt Ambrose's momentum, or will he lose his second meaningful match this week?

The Bulgarian Brute Rusev defeated Mark Henry at Night of Champions and on Raw. This week on SmackDown, the World's Strongest Man's tag team partner, The Big Show, has the opportunity to silence Rusev and Lana's pro-Russian propaganda when he meets the undefeated force of nature in singles competition.

What else can fans expect from this week's show? Let's take a look, courtesy of our friends at WrestlingInc.com.

Venue

Verizon Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas

Broadcast Team

Tom Phillips, Michael Cole and JBL

  • The Usos defeated Goldust and Stardust by disqualification when Goldust blasted Jimmy with a belt.

  • Big Show defeated Rusev by disqualification when Rusev used the Russian flag. Big Show KO'd Rusev to end the show.

Analysis

If the idea of Henry challenging Rusev's dominance was not appealing, odds are the thought of Big Show being the next to step up to the plate is not either. Still, that is what fans can expect when they tune in to this week's Friday night broadcast.

No matter how poorly or inadequately booked Big Show has been of late, he is still a marquee star whose championship resume means something. If Rusev should beat him, it would only add to the impressive list of former champions Rusev has vanquished.

Ambrose's win over The Miz is not a surprise. In fact, had Ambrose lost to Miz, a drug test of WWE Creative would be in order.

The most interesting aspect of Friday's show is the sudden rise of Cesaro to Intercontinental Championship contention. After failing to beat Sheamus, he finds himself making a lateral move, challenging for the other midcard title. Why and how that is supposed to benefit him are mysteries.

What is not is the quality of match fans should expect from him and WWE's resident Showoff, Dolph Ziggler.

Overall, SmackDown looks like a fun show. Unfortunately, it is anything but must-see. There is nothing that fans will miss out on by skipping Friday's show, which is something WWE absolutely must change if they ever hope to rehab SmackDown into a show fans go out of their way to watch.
