WWE Raw Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from September 15

Erik BeastonSep 16, 2014

The final Raw before WWE's Night of Champions pay-per-view was an eventful one for some of the sport's top Superstars and Divas.

Just six days before his battle with former Shield teammate Seth Rollins was to be one of the top bouts on the card, Reigns defeated Mr. Money in the Bank in a preview of that marquee match. It was a huge win for Reigns, who established himself as the better man Monday night and will now have the mental edge entering Sunday's WWE Network presentation.

John Cena, after his complete obliteration at the hands of Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, unleashed on the Beast Incarnate, proving that he will not be bullied come Night of Champions.

Nikki Bella was instrumental in helping her and Paige to victory over Brie Bella and AJ Lee, and she left her sister lying to close out the segment following her trademark finishing maneuver, the Rack Attack.

After a tumultuous month in which he was forced to endure criticisms for his defeat at the hands of Rusev at SummerSlam, Jack Swagger finally shut up his detractors following a victory over the inspirational Bo Dallas.

With so much hype being placed on the impending pay-per-view extravaganza, Raw was the last opportunity for some of WWE's biggest and brightest stars to make an impact. Who succeeded and who failed?

Take a look for yourself with this week's biggest winners and losers from Monday Night Raw.

Winner: John Cena

The leader of the Cenation told the world he wanted to fight Brock Lesnar and then proceeded to do it Monday night, wasting no time in proving to his Night of Champions opponent that he will not back down and he will not quit in his pursuit of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship despite the punishment he endured at SummerSlam.

Despite a bumpy start to the night in which he dove back into some of the lighthearted comedy that irritates and infuriates audiences, Cena rebounded nicely by halftime of the Eagles-Colts game and really put a strong foot forward in hyping his upcoming title bout against Lesnar.

The pull-apart brawl was a nice way to add some intensity to the program, while the potentially broken nose suffered by Lesnar put over Cena's aggression entering Sunday's broadcast.

Loser: Cesaro

It appears as though the Swiss Superman finds himself in the "loser" section of this article every week, but it is difficult not to put him there given the absolutely horrendous booking he has been forced to endure by WWE Creative.

Monday night, just six days before the company asks us to buy Cesaro as a legitimate threat to Sheamus' United States Championship, he found himself eating a pinfall at the hands of the Usos.

Why sacrifice the No. 1 contender to one of the most prestigious titles your company has to offer just to put the tag champs over in a six-man tag team match? That is a question only WWE Creative can try to answer. The rest of us will simply sit back and shake our heads at the shoddy use of the immensely talented Superstar.

Winner: Nikki Bella

After a horrendous segment on last week's Raw involving Jerry Springer and real-life brother J.J., Nikki Bella rebounded with some strong booking that not only established her as a dark horse in Sunday's Triple Threat match for the Divas Championship but also saw her one-upping sister Brie as their sibling rivalry continues.

Nikki pulled AJ Lee off the ring apron, preventing Brie from making the hot tag, an action that led to Paige pinning her sister following the Ram-Paige. Not satisfied with just winning the match, the cowardly competitor lifted Brie off the mat and delivered the Rack Attack, leaving her sister lying in a heap to end the segment.

It is unlikely Nikki leaves Night of Champions with the Divas title thanks in large part to the Brie factor. Still, she had the element of cunning added to her act Monday night as WWE Creative attempts to portray her as more than just a pretty, whining heel.

Losers: Luke Harper and Erick Rowan

The Wyatt Family fallen out of relevancy in WWE. Former tag team juggernauts Harper and Rowan are playing punching bag to Big Show and suffering a double chokeslam at the hands of the giant.

It does not matter how big, bad or dominant a competitor the former heavyweight champion is; he should never be able to lift two Superstars like Harper and Rowan at the same time, especially when those two guys have been portrayed as powerhouses in their own right. It completely diminishes them as characters and kills any chance they have of being perceived as a threat to Show or anyone else they feud with in the short term.

Winner: Roman Reigns

After being left unconscious, the victim of a three-on-one beatdown at the hands of Kane, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins on last week's show, Roman Regins recovered nicely Monday night as he defeated Rollins in one-on-one action just days before they are scheduled to clash at Night of Champions.

Reigns withstood an onslaught by Rollins to win, proving that without the assistance of The Authority, Mr. Money in the Bank is no match for the juggernaut Reigns. It should be interesting to see how Rollins adapts his game plan come Sunday night and whether or not he relies on interference from someone such as Kane when he attempts to avenge his loss to Reigns from Raw.
