Liverpool Transfer News: Javier Manquillo's Anfield Dream a Huge Boost for Reds
It's only the beginning of Javier Manquillo's career as a Liverpool player, but the Spaniard is already looking to extend his two-year loan at Anfield.
It's a stirring endorsement of the project Brendan Rodgers is currently building at the Merseyside club, with Manquillo quoted by David Wright of the Express in professing his desire to remain a Red:
"I'm very happy to stay here. There's some things I miss about home - the weather is the main one! - but I'm getting accustomed to things here more and more every day. I get on very well with the manager. He helps us with everything he can, which is great. He also speaks Spanish fluently too, so it's really easy for us to communicate.
I have some fellow Spanish team-mates with me over here too - Alberto Moreno, Suso and Jose Enrique are all here and there are some others in the squad who speak Spanish too, it's been really easy for me to adapt.

Rodgers can only hope that his youngster's affection for the club grows over the next two seasons of his loan from Atletico Madrid, and the fans will assuredly be delighted to hear such fond feelings this early on.
Having played the full 90 minutes in two of Liverpool's first three Premier League fixtures this season, Manquillo would appear to be the first-choice right-back for Rodgers, leapfrogging Glen Johnson in swift fashion.

That, too, is something the Reds can be pleased about, considering some sections of their support have voiced a concern with Johnson during the last two campaigns.
Merseyside writer Paul Tomkins and Nik Postinger of We Play both offered significant praise to the 20-year-old following his performance in the 3-0 win over Tottenham a fortnight ago:
"@Paul_Winn thought Manquillo was excellent. Steady going forward, but a really good defender. Not as eye-catching as Moreno, mind.

It's also been a trademark of Rodgers' work at Anfield that the youth get their chance at first-team minutes, and he is arguably the biggest promoter of young players among England's big guns these days.
Along with the homegrown likes of Raheem Sterling, Jon Flanagan, Andre Wisdom and Jordon Ibe all getting their chances in recent years, this summer's investments have pointed toward a more youthful approach.

Between them, Manquillo, Alberto Moreno, Lazar Markovic, Divock Origi and Emre Can have an average age of just 20, and all have a realistic shot at starting, Origi spending his 2014-15 season back on loan at Lille.
The Liverpool Echo quotes the manager in proclaiming his desire to ensure young players like Manquillo get their chance against even the more established stars in the squad:
By rights, all would appear to be going positively for Rodgers and his emerging superpower. Last season's second-place finish was followed by the disappointment of Luis Suarez' exit, but a busy summer has renewed faith at the club, assuming it was ever waning in the first place.
Morale is brought on tenfold when a player like Manquillo, a highly tipped prospect in Spain, can adapt so quickly, encouraging other foreign assets to perhaps do the same in the future.

His praise for the manager in particular further confirms Rodgers as a coaching contender who has the players on his side. Rodgers is a step away from the stature of Jose Mourinho, Louis van Gaal, Arsene Wenger or Manuel Pellegrini, perhaps, but by no means not as talented.
Depending on how the next two seasons go, Atleti may find the sale of Manquillo unthinkable, progress pending. However, the initial signs for a long and fruitful relationship are there, and it helps the club tremendously as a result.
